750 ml bottle. Pours a hazy light brown/bronze color with a lasting off-white head. Aroma is initially citrus sourness - mainly lemons and oranges, tart brett funk. Flavor is at once sweet and sour, citrus, tart, brett, and slightly acidic. Thin bodied, delicious.

Bottle number 184. Mellow vinous and oak bouquet. Clear yellow pour with a fleeting white head. Chardonnay and oaky notes dominate. Stone fruit and caramel malt, and spicy wood (a la lambic) undercurrents. For being a decade old this beer freakin’ rocks. Good body and mouthfeel. HopHeadinAZ (180) - Arizona, USA - SEP 8, 2012
Bottle from 2005 or 06. Pours a clear amber brown with a smallish ivory head. The nose is sour with wine barrel character. The taste is smooth and balanced with red wine notes and mild to moderate funk. The mouthfeel is pretty close to perfect. I’m not a sour fan but this beer is really nice in moderation. Maybe it’s the age but if it was still available I would get more. hellbilly (3306) - scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA - JUN 22, 2012
5/20/12 bottle from 2005 ish via rudy.
more herbal and woody than #1 (la folie)but more subdued and complex...really spicy, peppery, dumpster.leather, cherry pie akin to ng belgian red, diapery, acetone/nail polish. Held up amazingly. 8.5/4/8.5/4/17+
Like a richer la folie....

A: The pour is a clear straw color with some hints of orange. There is pretty much no head on this beer.
S: Wow, not what I was expecting. Honey and grapes are here, and I enjoy that, but there’s a bit alcohol and rubber cement note to it. I do get a lot of chardonnay out of it, though...
T: There’s a really harsh alcohol flavor that comes through immediately. Maybe a little bit of plastic, too. There is a bit of watermelon and a lot of chardonnay, which is nice, but does not atone for the bad flavors.
M: The body is medium with a very low level of carbonation.
D: It’s unfortunate that this beer was so off. I just really couldn’t find much to enjoy here.

Tried against Le Woody Brune. tepid hazy gold, no head. Nose has citric acid, wood, coconut. Thin citric body, lightly biting small body with sandy flavor, refreshing like a gose in that short, spritely way, crisp and light though lightly watery. Very citric, smooth body, right on the edge of being oppressively citric mouth feel but not quite. A bit more sweet than Struiselensis. nimbleprop (8935) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - SEP 8, 2010
Was able to try this side by side with the Le Woody Brun. 750ml bottle pours a hazy, orange with one ring of white head. Nose is super bretty, sweet tarts, garlic, hay, spices, pepper, wood pulp. Flavor is apples, garlic bread, herbs, a little acetic, earthy. Finish is medium bodied, dry and tart. sebletitje (10477) - Enghien, BELGIUM - AUG 29, 2010
Wash. DC tasting.
side by side with Le Woody Brune, glad to have tried these rare treats.
hazy golden, light yellowish head.
tart and grape sourness, vinegary, grainy leaving a nice wine-like barrel mouthfeel of the Chardonnay. Highly complex, perfect blend of the fruit with the addition of barrel funk/tartness.
aroma had ample grape tartness coupled with lingering tartness.

750mL courtesy of MrChopin. Thank you Kevin! Wow what a rare treat- like the ancestor of Yellow Bus and Cable Car. Mostly flat, glowing, cloudy mango juice pours into the Westvletern glass with faint white bubbles. Aroma is very funky sour, cotton candy, nectarines, sour peach, peach fuzz. Totally amazing. Body is a little light, but some intense sourness and slight spicy sourness balance bringing slight acedic, some brininess into the picture. Big nectarine flavor. Spritzy carbonation with a soft mouthfeel. Travlr (26430) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - AUG 27, 2010
750 ml bottle courtesy of Mr Chopin, thank you sir! Cloudy orange, no head or lacing. Aroma of lemon, grapefruit. Taste also has sour orange peel, coriander. Very nice.
