4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Holy shit, I’m the 5th Pennsylvanian to have rated this stuff! We PA guys take no prisoners. Thanks to an anonymous benefactor for this one. The pour was obsidian with almost no head other than a few tan spots. The aroma was of big roasty malt, molasses, some tobacco. The flavor was very malty with a decent fruit component, molasses, and some chocolate. Very palate dense with very little carbonation. This one is great!
Tons of fresh chocolate and vanilla in this guy, heavy roast, all very big and rich for 9.5%. Full bodied, creamy and balanced. Licorice, chocolate and vanilla with a noticeable bite in the finish. Excellent. Zlotta (4154) - Hagen, GERMANY - DEC 18, 2016
UPDATED: DEC 18, 2016 Sampled from tap at ?Craft Beer Corner? at 11% abv. Pitch black with a light brown head. Sweetish-malty, moderately roasty aroma of dark chocolate, praline, coffee and licorice. Rather sweet, malty and moderately roasty taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice and praline, followed by a medium long, moderately roasty-bitter finish. Medium to full body, creamy to oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very nice! Koelschtrinker (22084) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - DEC 18, 2016
Leicht alkoholischer, intensiv malziger Start und Mittelteil. Bitterschokolade, leicht gewürzig, süßlich herb. Nett. 10/10/10/10//10 dnstone (3719) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - AUG 30, 2016
Chocolate, roasted strong aroma. Poured a black in color with an off-white head. Flavor is chewy-chocolatey and roasty with a thick body...a great stout.

Pitch black and nearly opaque with faint chestnut brown edges and a two finger frothy mocha head that very slowly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Very good retention for style and ABV leaving streaks of soapy lacing behind.
Very inviting and complex aroma with a luscious barrel presnce that’s nicely integrated into the characteristic of the base beer. A decent amount of sweet, spicy bourbon but no overpowering or too boozy. Lots of vanilla bean and toasted coconut along with subtle dry oak. This is countered by delicate roast and silky chocolate malt sweetness. Hints of bakers chocolate, caramel, oatmeal and gourmet coffee beans. Smells awesome!
Medium body with a blast of spicy, boozy heat that dominates the flavor lingering over the subtle roast into a boozy, bone dry finish. Strong char with heavy oak and bourbon flavor. Strong whiskey presence along with toothpick and burnt wood. Not as complex or well balanced as the nose suggests. Slightly smokey/peated but most of he vanilla and coconut smoothness from the nose is missing. Underneath, there is some dry roast with oatmeal, spent coffee grinds, burnt toast and biittersweet dark chocolate. Lacking the dessert-like sweetness from the aroma. One dimensional and lacking in balance. Needs less whiskey/heat and a more complex barrel character. Also, the body is a bit thin and overall could used more sweetness.

Sour&bitter. Black of color with a brown head. An aroma of roasted malt, burnt, coal and weak sweets. A flavor of coal, sour and burnt. GarrettB (1695) - San Diego, California, USA - JAN 31, 2015
June 29th, 2013 - Pizza Port’s Night Rider is the first to really strike me as the direct offspring of the famously talented brewer Bagby. The Night Rider is as dark and inky as you’d expect, but as with most beers, it distinguishes itself on two other far more important fronts: aroma and taste. The scent is heavy and heaving with rich, lovely scents: chocolate, both dark and milk, with a malty smell worthy of a top-notch 1950’s diner. The flavor is also deep and chocolate, though a little sweeter, and still very delicious. There’s a distinct malt flavor too, that holds hands nicely with the chocolate, and the hops is perfectly positioned to contribute, all making a delicious, exquisitely composed and charged brew. slowrunner77 (13206) - Reno, Nevada, USA - SEP 25, 2014
"Nice So Cal rendition of a Russina Imperial. Sweet, almost sticky, full bodies and full flavored. Roasted malt, licorice, dark fruit, chocolate, coffee and hops in equal measure. Smooth too."
