draft at pizza port carlsbad - the first hit at my stop in carlsbad; thick, jet black with long-lasting chocolate colored head; this is a big beer in every way, except perhaps that it remains a smooth drinker; huge aromas of chocolate, licorice, coffee, hops and a just touch of smoke; the smoke adds to the smoothness and is a addition that is growing on me from based on other imperial stouts, such as southampton; thick and chewy with a dry chocolate finish; a great beer and even better place elihapa (1554) - Honolulu, Hawaii, USA - JUL 12, 2009
After trying two big citrusy IPAs, I was interested to see how PP would brew up an Impy Stout. On tap, this appeared with black coloration and a ring of beige foam. The aroma had much espresso, Belgian chocolate, brown sugar, and some interesting red wine characteristics. The palate was predictably satisfying: full and rich, yet not oppressively so. Flavor starts, surprisingly with piney hops before diving into mocha, coffee, and vanilla. The finish holds vinous characteristics, oak, and a touch of roastiness. On tap at Pizza Port Carlsbad. Great appearance, jet black and fairly viscous with a two-finger tan head that lasts. Aroma is roasty and chocolatey with some coffee. Chocolate really stands out on this one. Flavor is like a roasty beer version of a chocolate milkshake. Really rich and good. Lots of earthy hop bitterness and a hint of coffee in there as well. Body is full and carbonation is smooth. Hops linger on the finish. A very good imperial stout overall. lucylager (6) - USA - SEP 18, 2010 does not count

Draught @ Sorbon, Bromma. Pitch black, opaque color, full sized brown head. Smell malts, dark malts, roastyness, slightly sweet, slightly alcohol. Taste malts, dark malts, roasted malts, hops, bitterness. Full body, med carbonation.

03/11/2012 Brasserie 4:20 (tap). Nera, densa, impentrabile, schiuma color cappuccino, abbondante e incredibilmente persistente. Al naso sentori di malti tostati, caffé, leggero cacaco, liquirizia, note di pane bruciato. In bocca è prevalenetemente amara, con note di malti tostati, crosta di pane bruciato, caffé. Pours big and black as "night" with a huge brown head. Nose is coffee, chocolate, wood, , dark fruits, nuts and grass. A lot going on in the nose. The taste is a perfect balanced bittersweet with a slight coffee tart tinge that really gives the taste a unique dimension. On tap at Craft Beer Co. Clerkenwell, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out tons of dark chocolate, dark cocoa powder, and a little roasted malt. Flavour is rich, full of rich dark chocolate, some dark cocoa powder, and a touch of roast. Very rich and full-bodied, full of chocolate richness, while being nice and dry on the mouthfeel. Keg at CBC Clerkenwell during tap takeover. It pours a dark brown colour with a ring of brown bubbles. Sweet aroma of chocolate, cream, coffee, and dried fruits. Taste is chocolate, bitter coffee, roasted malts, and a nice bitter hop bite. Toffee and vanilla swirl from time to time with hints of caramel. Great one.
