Burns’ Night Scotch Ale. Tap PP OB. Clear reddish brown with a one finger medium beige head, fair retention. Nutty caramel malt sweetness dominates, fairly toasty. Flavor adds a bit of raisin or dried black cherry with a tinge of tartness (this comes out in the aroma as it warms). There is something warming alcohol in the throat, but never boozy. Bitterness peaked at a 2 in the lightly earthy finish, low roast. Low carbonation with a medium body. This isn’t a peaty smoky scotch ale. Can’t believe they served me a pint of this. 7-4-7-4-13--3.5
Draft at Bluejacket (vintage 2012). Holy raisin, Batman! Toffee and caramel in the nose. Clear brown pour with a slight head. Thick mouthfeel, raisin, fig, caramel and toffee. Really yummy. Imperial Scotch Ale! ICEatALAMO (1350) - Troy, Michigan, USA - JAN 3, 2014
Draft at brewery. The pour is a very dark brown. The aroma is all sweet carmel, very nice. The taste has a nice sweet taste with just the right blend of booze. I could drink a lot of this.

3/28/13. Sample during CBC 2013. Deep ruby pour with a very small khaki head, if any. Toasted caramel and dark fruits in the aroma with just a whiff of smoke. Rich caramel, nuttiness, some dark fruits on the flavor, which just a wisp of smoke. Nice.
Tap at CK. Deep ruby pour. Small bubble ring. No head formation. Nose is very sweet dark cherries, chewy saltwater taffy, sweet alcohol, fermenting prunes. Small smokiness and fat. Taste is sharp, minerally up front moving to decent savory smokiness and bacon. Fatty with a dry, gruit like herbal finish. Bark, tea leaves, lime. Carbonated palate. Long, sharp bitter finish.
