Cho-Saiko is radical in Japanese surf slang. This is OBs house Double IPA. Cho-Saiko is brewed year round as long as there is fermentation space. It is a big beer with big hop character. Dry hopped with five different hops to add to the hop experience. 1.082 SG 1.010 FG

Hops, hops and more hops. I love them too. But when there is no balance or reason to them it is like eating a super spicy dish that has nothing else to offer.

(En ft la brasserie - list 8.5%): Jus tropical intense, enrobage verdoyant et une abondance de crales sucres. Lamertume rinitialise le palais chaque fois avec sa soudaine scheresse.

On tap @ Toronado San Diego. Clear amber pour with a white head. Big time pine and grapefruit on the nose. A lot of sweet tropical fruit and apricot. Plenty of caramel, too. Flavor is kind of goopy and sweet. Lots of grapefruit, peach, apricot, and orange marmalade. Kinda sweet but an intense bitterness on the back end.

Draft @ pizza port ob. Slightly hazed bronze, thin lacey off-white head. Minty hop nose with a little plump fruit and maybe some basil too. Flavors are again quite herbal with the hops, dry too, and fucking bitter. Clingly minty bitterness sticks around for a long while and the high abv makes it feel big and full...combines a bit too heavy for me...the herbal hop characteristics are interesting and pretty focused and clean, its just a big, bold, alcoholic, and hoppy beer and Im too old for that.

On tap @ Pizza Port Ocean Beach: Poured with a perfect half inch layer of foam while the liquid was a golden color. The aroma was overly hopped with a scent of citrus. The palate was dry and had a bitter bite of hops with a tangy background of grapefruit.

Draft at the brewpub. Pours golden with fluffy white head. Huge, creamy mouthfeel. Nice resin hops in the aroma. Citrus hops in the taste. Very good. One of the better beers of my recent SD trip.

On tap at Pizza Port. Pours a hazy yellow-amber with a small white head. Aroma is intensely floral, lots of hops, some malt. Taste also has a ton of flowers, a bit herbal and malty, rather bitter. Lingering bitterness. Kind of overwhelming floral bitterness.
