On tap @ Pizza Port, Carlsbad. Clear, deep orange amber. Low aroma of toffee and citrus. Soft malts take a backseat to the very bitter grapefruit rind hops. In every way an IPA except for the ABV. Very good! JohnnyJ (5570) - San Diego, California, USA - JAN 3, 2009
Nice pale ale. Fresh, clean, and easy to drink. Amber color with white head. Floral hops, citrus, caramel malt, pine, and some earthiness. Full body for a pale ale. beerguy101 (5360) - Newark, California, USA - DEC 8, 2008
Sampled on 12/8/08 at the brewery. This American Pale Ale poured a medium amber color from the tap. Medium sized white foamy head, with nice retention. The aroma is caramel and sweet, with lots of floral and piney hops. A medium bodied Pale Ale. The malts are caramel and sweet. The hops are floral and piney. Nice carbonation. Very fresh tasting, the hop flavors are very clean and crisp. A fairly hoppy Pale Ale, yet it has a nice malt character. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is bitter. On tap at the brewery. Aroma is hoppy, a little flowery and pine. A copper amber color, clear. Malty, but still balanced towards the hops without being overdone. Bitter, dry finish. Clean and drinkable. Very nice. SDbruboy (1864) - San Diego, California, USA - AUG 27, 2008
On draft at PB Taproom. Arrives a mostly clear dark amber color with a moderate whitish head that left some nice lacing. Aroma of toasty malts and gentle piney, resiny notes. Flavor is toasty-bitterish and caramel malts, with more of the piney and resiny hops. Light to medium body and tingly carbonation. Well balanced and servicable if unremarkable pale ale.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear amber with a slightly tanned head and perfect lacings. Quite bitter with hoppy aromas of resin a hint of plant sap. Has a fresh sourness too. Not my favourite hopsprofile. doubleo (1432) - San Diego, California, USA - APR 21, 2008
On-tap at PP C’Bad. Pours an orangish amber color with a thin white head, some lace. Smells perfectly balanced between the hops and malts. Taste is awesome, hoppy but not quite an IPA, nice and bitter. Plenty of earthy, sweet malts on the finish to back up all the hops. It’s like SNPA but with more character and depth. Medium body, good active carbonation. Awesome beer. steview (1037) - Petaluma, California, USA - APR 19, 2008
tap, Carlsbad, dunno why i picked this up, but it is alright--lemon, melon, pine, caramel, with the citrus/hops popping out more, but with this soapy quality; mild, overall, not in style; good to drink, but nothing to get excited; then again, with a name like Palapa, i was hoping for an easier to swallow, and exotic, ale, while it is to me a bit big and hard. goldtwins (4320) - Nesconset, New York, USA - FEB 18, 2008
Tap @ PP Carlsbad. Poured a clear deep orange color with an off-white head. The aroma is of malt and orange scented hops. The flavor was of caramel and mild hops. Big growing bitterness on the finish. The grew to a moderate-big bitterness that tasted like citrus rind. Light to meidum bodied. badlizard (5533) - Berkeley, California, USA - AUG 16, 2007
On tap at Pizza Port. Orange amber with a fizzy white head. Citrus, pine, and malty aroma and taste with a clean finish. Not bad.
