Draught at the brewpub. Black beer with a beige head. Roasty aroma with lots of coffee-like notes. Dry and roasty flavor without much sweetness or body. Clean and drinkable stuff but could maybe be a little more robust and sweeter. Brigadier (3750) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - JUL 20, 2011

The real reason for coming was to try this porter. Not disappointed, I was almost tempted to take home a growler except for the large backlog and the rather steep price. I am amazed that it was still on almost a week later. I guess word did not get around the Cleveland area fast enough unlike the Bell’s Oracle that was available later in the month.
Aroma and appearance - An inky black body was fluid and perky. A dusty tan head looked as if someone had poured the beer then put it in a forgotten corner for a few years to age. Smoke filled black coffee provided a deep, dark, and mysterious atmosphere. Smelling like an urban alleyway around midnight (but without the ’local’ water) it asked for more reflection.
Flavor and palate - The dry smoky mouthfeel flowed like water over a eager tongue. Mellow and soft it was easy on the palate for the style. Even after the end of a generous pour the palate could have take another pint easily. Hops gently tickle the throat from time to time to remind you this isn’t timid. Overall it compares well with other examples you are likely to find on the West Coast.
Porter. Tap at haymarket... Pours a cola hue, lighter edges and topped

drat at Haymarkets Pizza Port Tap takeover. medium bodied darker pour. Roasted malts dominate flavor & aroma. Decent mouthfeel, Solid porter but should of consumed prior to their great impy stouts TheAlum (7164) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - MAY 25, 2011
Draft on tap at Haymarket’s Pizza Port Event (Chicago, IL). Pours a nice darker blackish brown hue, near opaque with a frothy light brown head atop, touch of lacing and a brownish bottom. Aromas are cocoa and earthy malts, pretzels, roast and toast moving into some molasses. Sweeter edged, a touch of floral hops. Initial is sweeter edged, toast and molasses up front into a touch of roast, earth caramel, toffee, and some faint roast. A touch of dark malts, earthy peanuts, soil. Finish is sweet, a touch sour almost or tart. Strange really earthy molasses. Touch of bitter hops. Interesting, but not really my thing. So much earth and molasses, it’s a solid Brown Porter but not really my style in that regards. A little overdone. chibuck (3521) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 24, 2011
Dark mahogany, lots of amber, shiny, nice medium mocha head, good retention and lace... Light roasted chocolate, oatmeal notes, super solid... Taste has a touch to much alcohol, some bitter chocolate but loses the nice roastiness, not that successful, disappointed... Light feel, almost watery but easy to drink joeneugs (6372) - Livermore, California, USA - APR 21, 2011
On tap at PP San Clemente. It pours dark brown with a tan head. The aroma is malty with dark chocolate and roasted coffee. The flavor is lively with coffee, berries, and a bit of caramel sweetness. Good roasted finish. One of my favorite PP beers. fonefan (51144) - VestJylland, DENMARK - MAR 17, 2011
