Great hoppy beer. Thick oily hop residue in flavor.....a good thing. Similar to the Russian river IPAs. Hops trickled down tongue and lasted and lasted. Awesome to say least. jinroh (1524) - ESTONIA - MAR 20, 2015
Pours clear amber with a nice white top that stays. Aroma is fruity but some rougher hops are also there. Earthy and down-to-earth IPA. Taste is very strong and powerful, hope overdose in a second, lots of very bitter stuff, rough and probably intentionally unbalanced. Reminds me mud, autumn and some frozen apples swinging on a tree. I forgot to mention - its also pretty good! KyotoLefty (10193) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAR 20, 2015
Tap at Bud. amber color, clear. Fruits nose, melon, apricots, citrus, light malt. Double IPA malt character, but not too strong or sweet, a bit of pine with melon and peach. full body, well balanced Good. Zymurgeist2 (2179) - Redwood City, California, USA - FEB 28, 2015
On tap at Harryís Hofbrau. Explosion if tropical fruit and citrus with a moderate woody aspect. Slight hazy dark orange with full white head. Taste is strong citrus, orange with forest floor and pine. Bread and slight caramel in moderate amounts balance the beer well. Wonderful. joeneugs (6371) - Livermore, California, USA - FEB 7, 2015
On tap at Beer Baron. It pours a golden orange color with an off white head. The aroma is dank and bready with some orange and a little cookie-like malt. The flavor is spicy/floral hops with some cookie, light caramel, dank, citrus and pine. Pretty enjoyable and great hop character, but a little too heavy on the palate.

Tasted on 11/12/11 on draft at the Three Floyds Anniversary party. Pours clear bright orange with an average white head that slowly recedes to a thin collar of lace. The nose is hoppy resin with a ton of citrus and some caramel malt. The flavor is tropical fruit, dank resin hops, citrus peel, and caramel. The body is medium and oily with tons of resin bitterness and tropical fruit hops. Broncowaldon (129) - Oceanside, California, USA - JAN 20, 2015
Awesome IPA pine herbal aroma, golden color some what cloudy, wonderful mango pine needle hop flavor! Another great one from this brewery. slowrunner77 (11911) - Reno, Nevada, USA - OCT 16, 2014
"a bigger body than their regular ipa and black ipa...otherwise both of those beers are better. maybe a different hop profile, or maybe the hops in this beer had to battle the malt too much. quite good, but not quite great!"

After reading some of these comments I found a surprising amount of disparities. Poor Manís has been a great double IPA for years. However; the English will find it hoppy and the east side of the US will not like the malt character. This is a legitimate west coast 2x IPA, honey color, high gravity, light body and grape-fruity! Itís as bitter as someone that you left at prom and just as amazing. Get a few Theydon_Bois (19189) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - MAY 11, 2014
Keg at Pizza Port Carlsbad, 21/04/14.
Clear golden with a moderate off white swirl which emulates a map of Africa.
Nose is bitter grapefruit, citric pithdom, straw, lemon rind, hops, pine.
Taste comprises sharp grapefruit, mineral bite, pine resin, orange pith, straw, mandarin.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi aggressive hop bitterness in the close.
Decent approachable DIPA, the 10% doesnít really make its presence known!
