3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a deep golden orange color, nose was loaded with hops, taste was quite bitter, good hop flavor, resinous, if i were to guess i;’d say chinook. a little harsh on the bitterness, but a great west coast ipa/
On tap at the Carlsbad location. Pours with a hazed golden hued body with a small white head that lasts and leaves good lace. Aromas are of orange, marmalade, pineapple, medium dankness, floral hops. Very light malt presence. Flavors are dank, floral, spicy hops, citrus, pine resin. Medium evidence of high cohumulone hops felt with the hop bitterness and light throat burn. High bitterness with a bitter balance that is not overwhelming. Medium bubbles, dry. Classic Pizza Port IPA. bluevegie (3073) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - MAY 3, 2011
No 2 as a sampler at the Monk, I like IPA ’s, this one didn’t let me down. Grapefruit notes standout to me with hidden alcohol. fiulijn (21461) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - APR 11, 2011

Hazy light amber color; creamy head. Very deep hop aroma, fruity and creamy; peaches, apricots; the final is nicely earthy. The body is well structured, and the mouthfeel is very smooth; highly carbonated; toffee flavor, on the dry side, with minimum residual sugars; powerful hopping, with smooth but determined resins, and a fruity touch. The final is dry and bitter. Very good, apparently still quite fresh.
Golden body, white head. Aroma has lots of hops. Pines, citrus, grapefruit. Flavour has balanced hops with caramel malt. Really perfect example of IPA. DarkElf (3067) - La Jolla, California, USA - MAR 14, 2011

Another solid IPA from the Carlsbad crew, this one pours dark-golden in color with near-perfect clarity. The half-inch of off-white head settles to a ring, leaving some spotty lace on the glass. Classic West Coast hop aromas of pine, citrus, and a bit of earth are joined by cerealy and lightly caramely malts. On the palate, the flavor is big and hoppy with resiny pine and a bit less citrus. The medium-high hoppy bitterness is balanced by medium-sweet, cerealy, slightly caramely malts, but the finish is very bitter and long-lasting. Medium-plus in weight with medium carbonation and a very dry, resiny mouthfeel. Overall, a really hoppy, bitter IPA that borders on Imperial categorization.
Growler courtesy of Mike. Pour is deep amber with an eggshell head. Aroma is definately tropical and fruity showing notes of mango, pineapple, and peach. Flavor shows the same with additional notes of sticky caramel, orange/lime peel, and a hint of honey. Overall body is moderate and sticky with well balanced bitterness. Tap @ Pizza Port Carlsbad. Does Port make a bad IPA?....I think not. Poured deep gold with a faint hint of orange, a frothy off white head left some nice lacing. Lots of citrus in the nose, well balanced by the malt in the background. danielcurtis81 (1519) - San Diego, California, USA - FEB 18, 2011
UPDATED: FEB 22, 2011 Served on tap at Blind Lady Ale House. The appearance is a medium brown gold hue with a nice white head. The aromas are full or citrus hops and very malty. The flavors are well hopped with a orange rind, and grapefruit influence. The malt profile on this brew is real nice. A toffee malt edge. The mouth is medium to full bodied and well carbonated. An excellent malty IPA. Ungstrup (38590) - Citizen of the universe, DENMARK - DEC 13, 2010
Draft. A dark golden beer with a lazing whipped cream like yellowish head. The aroma has notes of hops, lime, and grapefruits. The flavor is rather sweet with sticky notes of caramel combiend with notes of malt and lots of hops, lemon, and grapefruit, leading to a bitter finish.
