Sample at Craft Tap House. Hazy yellow-gold color with a medium white head that burns away gradually to a film. Strings of lacing. Aroma of yeast, fruit and malt. Deliciousness here! Looks lovely in the tulip, rich golden color, foamy white head, lace. Nice belgian yeast, fresh rustic grain, coriander and notes of banana on the nose. Very full and bold on the palate, plenty of sweet breadiness to go around, more banana and spice. Not too sharp on the tongue, lots of flavor, easy to enjoy. January 6th, 2012 - Pizza Port Solana Beach is my "home" Pizza Port, but my thinking was that all Pizza Ports were alike. The different locations were only ways to distribute the liquid goodness far and wide, I mused to myself. Not so! Each Pizza Port brews or carries beers unique to that location, adding reasons for making a North Country trek to Pizza Port and Lost Abbey. Hopping over to Pizza Port around lunchtime, we plopped down for a pipe and a flight, beginning with the lighter stuff, including Pizza Port’s Revelations. The gold color of the Revelations is deep and sunken against the wood grain of Pizza Port’s iconically long tables, and the head is a wispy crescent not quite circling the glass. The nose delivers a hoppy edge to what otherwise smells a little like a wheat bear, mingled with notes of both peach and pear. The palate is noticeable sparkling and engaging, and bready like freshly risen dough, with a short, popping aftertaste that leaves the drinker curious about the style, and eager for another sip. Ratebeer says this is a Belgian Strong Ale, and I can see why, but it doesn’t fit nicely into the bracket, and that’s all right by me. Keg at CBC Clerkenwell, London during the Pizza Port tap takeover. Pours clear gold with a fine, white cream head. Yeasty aroma, some sweet dough. Big sweet flavor with lots of doughy malts, some honey, white bread. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. On tap at Craft Beer Co. Clerkenwell, pours a hazy golden with a small beige head. Aroma of Belgian yeas, candied sugar and some dry crackery malts. Flavour brings out candied sugar, some wild yeast notes, Belgian yeast and some floral notes. Very smooth and light for the ABV. Finishes on dry-ish notes of candied sugar and Belgian yeast. Clear light medium yellow colour with a large to huge, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, hay, moderate hoppy, herbs, grass, moderate yeasty, yeast. Flavour is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, yeast, fruity yeast, alcohol - phenol, green grass - apple. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
