CP&K Pizza Port Tap Takeover. Hazy amber beer, tidy cream coloured head. Light dry palate. A little soft. Fair bit of creamy malt with very mild skunky hops. A little orange marmalade. Finishes dry. Okay. Nice stepping on point for peeps not used to US beers.

Tap. Tap was not behaving but with a patience a pint was to be had. Copper with too much foam off the tap but very presentable when delivered. Quiet aroma with nice malt although hard to measure up after the IPAs. Wood and caramel. Thick body. A: The beer pours amber in color with a finger of off-white head.
S: Sort of a sweet aroma to it with a fair amount of toasted malt. A bit bland on the nose, though, not much in the way of hops, even the more subtle "English" hops that you might expect. Just a faint floral note on the back end.
T: The flavor is fairly sweet as well with toffee, toasted bread, and a touch of caramel. Like the aroma, subtle hop flavors are present, mostly floral in nature with just a bit of citrus peel bitterness.
M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation.
O: While not my favorite, English pales can be good, but this one was just too bland.

Pours clearish red/brown with a big, offwhite head and spider web lace. Smells like butt with a backing of sweet, slightly fruity, caramel malts. Tastes pretty good. UPDATED: SEP 28, 2010 Sample at the brewpub. Pours a clear dark orange color with a thin and dense ivory colored head that diminishes slowly. Sticky patches of lace. Fruity hops aroma plus some malt. Medium, smooth body with a grainy malt flavor as well as hops and fruit. The finish is malty with a leftover sweetness. A decent offering, well worth the money and i’d possibly get it again. Just didn’t knock my socks off. Beer was drinkable, but lacked a defining characteristic. Draught at San Clemente. Pours clear brown with an average, fizzy light brown head, somewhat diminishing with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (grain, meal, cereal), light hop (herbs), average yeast (sweat) with notes of wet paper and apples. Light to medium bodied, thin texture, average carbonation, and a metallic finish. Average duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.
