Pours clear dark amber with a medium, creamy, beige head. Aroma is hoppy mixed with chocolate. Almost like a chocolate eclair with hops juice in them. Grapefruit, nougat. Medium carbonation, dry and light creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is quite bitter, dry, almost fresh-hopped, milky chocolate. Dry, sweet and bitter. Quite a unique beer. Amazing that I can still be surprised after 6000-odd beers :o)

UPDATED: JUN 7, 2012 (Draught) Pours dark mahogany reddish brown with a small head. The aroma holds toasted nuts, light burned cookies, caramel, toffee, light chocolate, pine, earth, wood, citrus, flowers and touch of fruits. The flavour is light sweet, medium to heavily bitter and light acidic with notes of robust malt and resinous, woodsy, floral and citric hops. The mouthfeel is soft, oily, round and light tart with a light carbonation. Grapefruit juice on the finish. Medium to full bodied.

On tap at PP Solana. Marked Imperial Red. Pours cloudy red/brown with a medium sized, creamy, offwhite head that leaves good lace. Smells big and red fruity hoppy sweet with a nice balance between the sweet hop notes and some nice sweet malts as well. Tastes the same. Poured up on tap at Stone Bistro with amber body and copper like edges supporting a loose light tan head. The aroma is modest in strength but offers up a good deal of complexity with roasted malts, crystal like malt sweetness, spicy to pine hops and a thicket of caramel candy from time to time. The taste has a firm and pleasing level of pine hops, spicy hops and some citrus too. In between the bold hops are thin layers of mildly roasted malts, malt sweetness and a bit of caramel. UPDATED: SEP 30, 2010 Sample at the brewpub. Pours a clear dark amber-copper color with a thin and creamy light beige head that recedes slowly. Sheet of lacing on the glass. Hoppy aroma that has some dark fruity notes. Medium body with a moderately hoppy character accented by sweet malt, toffee and fruit. The finish is hoppy with a fruity aftertaste. On tap. Pours hazy brown with a creamy light tan head. The aroma is toasted caramel, fruity hops, sweet malt and some dark ripe fruits. The flavour is sweet malty with notes of caramel, peach, citrus, toasted malt, dark fruit and citrus. Very good.
