Draught at Pizza Port Ocean Beach. Almost black beer with a nice lasting beige head. Roasted ash aroma, citrus, floral, salty, some dark chocolate. Roasted chocolate flavor, fruity, soot, some tar and licorice. Slightly thin.

Jet black pour tan head and dark roast aroma. Not a ton of dark roast just the dark roast. Tasted real clean porter like and actually dry and refreshing.

17th July 2014 San Clemente Pizza Port, on my first flight of the day. Very dark brown, almost black in colour, dark beige head. The aroma was over roasted malts, dark bitter chocolate and mildly smoky. The taste very similar to the nose with some added liquorice for good measure. Seemed stronger than the advertised 5.6% ABV, very drinkable.

January 19th, 2013 - Too bad I didn’t take any notes on the where, why and how of having this beer. And my notes are succinct, too, but I think I understand why. The smell was simple and parsimonious, with a gentle scent of lightly toasted malts and cocoa powder, and the flavor is dry, like an Irish Stout. Sweet porters tend to monopolize my stash space, but I do like a dry version here and there, and this hits that particular spot. Good flavor, dry, and lots of room for pairing with food.

Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma has notes of malt, chocolate, coffee, caramel and roasted malt. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter with a long coffee and chocolate finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
