UPDATED: SEP 28, 2010 Sample at the brewpub. Dark brown (almost black) color with a medium foamy beige head that recedes to an outer ring steadily. Roasty malt aroma with coffee notes. Medium body with a malty and nutty flavor with some coffee in the background. The finish is roasted malt up front with a slight hops aftertaste. On tap, PP SC. My first couple sips, the beer was altogether too cold to shine. Upon warming slightly, a beautiful aroma of baker’s chocolate, light toasted brown bread and roasted nuts emerged. Flavor lands firmly on the palate with chocolate malt, excellently balanced with enough hop bitterness. Touch of vanilla emerges in a finish bursting with semisweet chocolate and toasted malt. on tap. A very nice appearance dark brown, slight carbonation on nitro. alot of dark malts,chocolate,bread aroma. Just a great brown ale.
