Pours clear golden color with a small head. Caramel malt on the nose, bread, some sweet fruits and pine, mild alcohol notes come through. Malty flavor as well, orange and resin. Decent.
Draught @ Pizza Port, Carlsbad. Aroma has resin, tropical fruits and grapefruit. Flavour has resin, aggressive hops with grapefruit and menthol. Nice, I like the resin here. BlackHaddock (7232) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 30, 2015
27th May 2015: on my second flight of beers at the other Carlsbad Pizza Port (but brewed at Bressi according to the beer board). Hoppier than most ’reds’ I have tasted but with plenty of maltiness too. Mild citrus notes play with sweeter fruits while the semi-sweet malts balance out the brew nicely. Aroma: intense hops, some grain. Appearance: dark, clear amber, small head. Taste: light bitter. Palate: dry bitters intensify, some grain malts and floral hops dueling. "pours a dark amber red, with finger thick tan head. aroma to my nose was malt dominated with a small dose of hops, with the flavor of caramel & a little chocolate malt. bitter hops at first swallow, but the follow through is malt heavy as well. i was expecting more hops, especially after reading a couple reviews here, but there is still enough to bring some balance. overall, a pretty good, but definitely not great red ale. more complex than the lighter ambers maybe, but not as big as my favorite reds or ambers. something about the malt & hop profile (or maybe the beers age) is just a touch off...has potential, though. I’ll try again in the future."

Clear amber with reddish hues and a moderate light beige covering.
Nose is light pine, red grapefruit, bitter orange, caramel.
Taste comprises citric peel, perfumed notes, caramel, candied orange peel, light spice.
Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close.

Draft. A deep red beer with a huge tan head. The aroma has strong notes of grapefruit and hops, combined with medium notes malt, spices, and fruit. Had at Pizza Port-OB. Pours a deep amber with a small white head and decent lacing.
Smells strongly of caramel malts with very little hop presence in the aroma.
Tastes of caramel similar to the smell, but a stronger hop presence in the taste. Bitter earthy hops up front rounding into caramel notes finishing with a good lingering bitterness.
Mouthfeel is med-hi with a bit of stickiness to it.
I’m slowly realizing hoppy reds are my favorite. Port Brewing has another winner.
