Just an honest, incredible tasting Classic Stout. Easy to see how this won a GABF medal. Slight roasty and coffee burn flavor added to a solid dark ale. While high in alcohol at 8%, it is not noticeable in the taste.

This was 2012 version, so 4-years old, on tap at Craft Heads on the occasion of their 7th anniversary. Poured nice and dark, formidable beige head. Aroma had some cocoa, bitter chocolate and also a decent cupful of roast. Wow! I think this beer has only benefitted from the age, feels like its peaking at the moment. Flavours have blended nicely but by all means have not faded - crisp roast character with shiny biter chocolate and toffee sweetness. Impressed!

"An overlooked (given the awesomeness of Night Rider(S) right after) tasty american IS. Roasty, hoppy beast, with some fainter chocolate and coffee in the background. Big bodied, but medium next to NRider."

Sweet, roasty aroma. Poured black in color with a strong head. The sweet/roasty notes carry through the taste with a good hop finish. Notes: GABF ’09

Tap @ PP Carlsbad. Black pour with a frothy light tan head. Aroma is light chocolate, a bit of roast, and oat. Taste is smooth roasty chocolate with a smidge of hop bitterness, perhaps some coffee, and some darker fruit notes on the finish. Even and creamy mouthfeel. Very well done drinkable imperial stout with some roast.

On tap at Carlsblad. A good stout, though not a RIS. Way above average roast, too much roast. Dark brown, lacey. Overcarbonated. Drinkable, tasty.

Growler thanks to JohnnyJ. Pours a clear deep brown with a brown head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma is full of roasted malts with some coffee and dark grains with a hint of dark chocolate. Flavor begins with chocolate and deep sweet grains with a strong roasted malt finish that was bitter.

bu11zeye (13029) - Frisco (Dallas), Texas, USA - OCT 18, 2011
(Draught) Pours an opaque black body with a medium cream head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, toasted/burnt grains, and citrus. Flavor of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, coffee, nuts, and some earthiness with a dry, bitter finish.

Sparky (2244) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - FEB 6, 2011
On tap at Stone Bistro. Pours black with a creamy tan head that left nice lacing. The nose is chocolate, coffee and hops. The taste is citrus hops, cocoa and coffee with some resin in the finish. Lots of hops in this one. Semi-creamy mouthfeel. Tasty.
