RBSG growler courtesy of cquiroga at the grand tasting. Pours dark dark brown with a nice dark tan head. Aroma is a little chalky and a little vegetal from the coffee beans, but these are minor off flavors in a sea of roasted malts, sweet cream, dark chocolate, cocoa, and fig. Flavor is just blatant coffee that washes into caramel and chocolate before finishing dry. Good stuff. JohnnyJ (5562) - San Diego, California, USA - JUN 29, 2009
Dark brown pour. Chocolate malts, strong coffee, caramel, roasted malts, some dark fruit. Good smooth stout. Dough77 (821) - Aurora, Illinois, USA - JUN 29, 2009
Dark brown pour with medium sized tan head. Aroma of espresso of course with a nice chocolate kick and some roasted malt. Flavor is pretty much espresso and chocolatey goodness. Overall a great tasting brew, quite smooth. pantanap (3366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - JUN 12, 2009
tap at the Hop Juice release party in warrenville.... pours close to black with brown edges and a thin light brown head.... light roast and smooth chocolate aroma... flavors of smooth chocolate/cocoa with very minimal roast or espresso characteristics but still yet so smooth and svelte. excellent mouthfeel and semi-thick/full consistency. excellent tasting impy stout. On tap at Pizza Port in Solana Beach. Pours a black body with a thick, dense and creamy, finger-width, mocha brown head that never completely dissipates and leaves a lot of thick, heavy layered lacing. Soft aroma of espresso beans, cocoa, dark fruits, and a light burnt roast. Taste is much richer than the aroma. Lots of espresso and cocoa with a big, burnt roast taste. Some acidic citrus and dark fruits too. Finishes rich and sweet with lots of burnt coffee roasts. Very long lingering taste. Medium to full bodied, smooth, and dry. Overall, a very nice Imp Stout. There’s a lot of burnt coffee, but it compliments the rest of the flavors very well. Good, bold, and right up my alley.

Draft. A pitch black beer with a lazing brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of roasted malt as well as light notes of soy sauce. The flavor sweet malty with strong notes of roasted malt, and medium notes of soy sauce and alcohol, which tickles the tongue and palate and adds to the dry, roasted, and bitter finish. 9 oz draft courtesy of the TB Hop Juice release (Warrenville, IL). Pours a dark pour, opaque, black with brown edges, a decent tan and brown head. Aromas are coffee, roasted malts, espresso, vanilla and caramel. A nice sweetness comes up over the roast. Nice. Initial is good bodied, pushing very good espresso, vanilla, chocolate, coffee. Sweet. It tastes like a Dairy Queen smells, almost. Quality roast and caramel, but a wonderful mellow sweetness takes over. Nice bitterness in the finish to combat the sweetness, balance it. Coffee and roast eventually takes over on the palate, quite wonderful. Faint smoke. A wonderful, powerful, flavorful, yet somehow smooth Impy. sebletitje (10080) - Enghien, BELGIUM - MAY 19, 2009

On tap at Boonville Beer Fest. One of the best of the fest. Thick and black appearance with a light brown head. Aroma is lots of coffee, roasted malts, and chocolate. Flavor is roast, espresso, chocolate, and vanilla. Full, creamy palate. An excellent RIS. danielcurtis81 (1519) - San Diego, California, USA - MAR 8, 2009
Tap from Port Solana. Pours a rich thick motor oil black with a thin tan head. Nose was deep roasted coffee. Wonderful espresso flavors. Nice malt back to it but could of used more. Mouth is thick and syrupy, very full, flat, on the hot side with the alcohol. Espresso flavors are great here and deserve recognition. complexity is lacking a bit but still wonderful. Would love to try again.
