A: The pour is just about black with a creamy, khaki colored head that exhibits excellent retention.
S: Like most beers of the style, heavy on the roast and coffee aromas. A little bit of licorice and dark chocolate giving the beer some sweetness. Earthy hops are there in the background.
T: Intense coffee flavor or both the beverage itself and of coffee grounds. Cocoa and dark chocolate, along with earthy hops, provide a fairly substantial bitterness. A touch of molasses and toffee for sweetness.
M: Medium in body with a smooth, creamy carbonation.
O: Goes down pretty easily. It’s nice to have some of these lower ABV beers. Especially a good one like this.

Sample at the brewpub. Pours dark brown with a ruby halo and a medium and creamy beige head that bubbles away steadily. Thin sheet of lacing on the glass. Light toasted malt and chocolate aroma. Medium, creamy body with flavors of dark chocolate and malt, as well as touches of coffee and hops. The finish is kind of thin and roasty with a light coffee aftertaste.
