COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask, Regular;
We took our inspiration for this special ale from the towering spire of Salisbury’s 13th Century Cathedral which dominates Constable’s famous watermeadows and Sarum’s ancient barrows. Our number one selling Ale in the Plain Ales range is a bitter with just enough power and complexity to make it interesting and yet enough restraint and simplicity and an ABV of 4.0% making it an easy drinking beer for all occasions. A special blend of malts delivers an initial depth of flavour, closely followed by a delicate bitterness and hints of citrus and flora from the selected hops, with a rich copper colour and a complexity that avows its name this is an ale by which to be truly inspired.

Cask handpump at The Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Bucks, Tuesday 7th August 2012 Pours dark amber a little bit biscuity from the off, reasonable beer, bittersweet, lacks a real hoppy bite, some caramel, its absolutely fine but one that I drank without really thinking about it, so it didn’t really leave much of an impression on me at all. Intense grain and cereal malts, caramel, light biscuit. Clear brown, hardly any head. Medium bitter. More grain and bread malts, some straw, light floral hops, very soft carbonation. Boring Bitter, nothing too special. Cask at Tabard, Chiswick.

Cask at GBBF. Not many marketing men would choose to call their brewery ’Plain Ales’, but this brewery doesn’t give a shit. Dark yellow, still, clear, small bubbly white head. Aroma is malty, sugars, cheesey, citrus. Body is medium to light, smooth, low carbonation. Taste is light sugars, biscuity, soft bitterness. Simple bitter, but nice enough.

GBBF Day 1. Cask. Clear amber beer, residual pale cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry, mildly crisp. Light pale malts, slightly skewed tangy marmalade. Trace of lemon. Whisper of smoke. Light dry finish. Okay.

Half, on cask at Craft Beer Co – Covent Garden. Deep copper coloured body. Dotted spots on the glass. Aromas of dark leafy hops and bread. Malt-fruity flavour mixture in the direction of jammy fruits. Bittersweet backdrop. Harmonious version of the style (London 11.07.2015).

DruncanVeasey (8239) - NUNEATON, Warwickshire, ENGLAND - JUN 22, 2015
Gravity, Nuneaton and Bedworth BF, 19/06/15. Brass amber with initial head and condition. Fine stewed apple, blackcurrant wine gum, almost strawberry aroma. Top bitter leaning hop-wards with discreet and integrated New World suggestions; wine gum, parsley, blackcurrant, more spiced stewed apple. Excellent.

Mr_Pink_152 (5109) - Lincoln, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - MAR 30, 2015
on tap at Gascoyne Place, Bath. Nice looking amber colour with a thick white head, but its down hill from there. Aroma is musty like old veg soup, and the taste slightly sour. Body a bit thin
