Cool Hobbit inspired beer. It is definitely very strong. Old fashioned is what they were going for, and they succeed.

On tap at PIB 2015, pours a hazy bronze with a small white head. Aroma brings out bourbon barrels, toffee and light dark fruits. Flavour is big and heavy, with dark fruits, bourbon barrels, and English yeast. Huge beer, with lots going on. Well-balanced. Very nice.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
You had me at hobbit. Pours reddish amber color with a small white head. A light leafy nose, some caramel. An unusual approach to a old ale, more of a dusty amber, sweet toffee, a bit of fruit, malt forward, maybe some woody or paper flavors. Solid beer.

Draft at Bailey’s Taproom. Tastes like drinking Southern Comfort out of an old shoe.
