UPDATED: NOV 26, 2010 (Draught,@Pikkulintu, sampled 2010-06-16) Almost black with a small, firm, beige head. Roasted-malty nose with licorice and reasonably aromatic hops. Flavor is sourish-malty and salty with aromatic hops, licorice, tar, and vanilla oakiness. Medium to full body, very low in CO2. A pleasantly matured and balanced IS with softened hops, but oak bringing in more complexity and vanilla. A great beer to celebrate a great friend! Draught at Plevna with Hannu. Pitch black with long lasting creamy tan head. Bright flowery-citrusy hop aroma with firm aromas of oak, vanilla, bourbon andlicorice. Rich bittersweet flavor with licorice, lemony hops, bourbon and subdued roastedness. Smooth, very warming palate with full body. The bourbon character is strong but so is the base beer, the balance is fine. In the aging the roastedness has been diminished and smoothed and now the american hops do not clash with roastedness like in the standard Siperia. [ Drunk in the company of Hannu himself ;O) ]. Clear dark dark black color with a average to large, creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, light brown head. Aroma is heavy malty, roasted, caramel, chocolate, cask wood, vanilla, moderate hoppy, licorice notes, light alcohol - whisky. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium to full, texture is creamy, carbonation is soft to flat, finish feel is light alcoholic.

Draught and 50 cl bottle at Plevna, Tampere. Opaque black color with a medium tan head. Intense and rich aroma with sweetness, roastedness, wood, vanilla, medicin, licorice, chocolate, coffee, raisins and slight alcohol. An abundant and balanced flavor follows the pattern of the aroma. Also a long and abundant sweetish and gently hoppy aftertaste. The bottled version appears little bit softier and it has more vanilla. Black colour with no head.
Aroma: dark roasted malt, berries, soft alcohol, roasted malt, liquorice, medicine and mint.
Flavour: roasted malt, sweet caramel, liquorice, hints of coffee, medicine, salty liquorice, hops and smooth alcohol.
Some hops in aftertaste. Well balanced. Warming.

7 sweet dark fruits,
5 black, and deep tan head, rises very slowly.
8 full burnt roasty body touch of ginger, touch of spice.
4 smooth, soft palate, co2 low. sweet vanilla and gentle burntness in the finish.
15 big and fruity and estery bringing lightness, yet deep and heady. I have to agree with mjs - the normal siperia can be so stunning that this doesn’t lift the beer beyond that. It’s also a bit confusing, as it’s exactly half way between a pesapuu sipper and a siperia quaffer - what size portion and glass should I use!
