UPDATED: OCT 22, 2016 Pitch black with a brown head. Aroma of roasty malts, herbs, hops, abit dark chocolate and coffee. Taste goes along with the aroma : multi-layered roasted malts with hops and fruits and coffee. Amazing stuff, well balanced. Overall this is a very refreshing and hoppy imperial stout, recommended!

Bottle thanks to Secret Santa! Pours opaque black, medium creamy brown head, dissipates leaving decent residual and lacing. Roasy aroma, anise, molasses, cocoa. Flavor is light sweet, medium plus bitter, roasty, burned notes, molasses, pine. Lingering bitter finish. Medium body.

Helt ok!

My Bottom Line:
Raisins, molasses and licorice sweetness are pierced by resinous hops and their bitterness in this nicely aromatic Imperial Stout.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam surfs the blackness.
-Very interesting because it is flavorful, but also because it is a textbook recipe.
-Mouthfeel is very rich, but not overwhelming, which I appreciate.
-Shades of fruity vanilla also peek through.

Bottle, 2014 edition. Thx, Timo!

Linnet (1871) - Karlstad, SWEDEN - JUN 7, 2015
Roasty, rather sweet, chocolate, coffee, licorice, ABV well integrated, black colour, tan head, flavour is sweet, salty and bitter, body is a bit thin for an imps. Decent.

Pours dark brown with average creamy, mostly diminishing light brown head. Moderate roasted maltiness with nuts, coffee and chocolate. Moderate to heavy hops, orange, grass and pine. Leather and earth tones in yeast. Notes of toffee, vanilla and soy sauce. Nicely balanced taste with moderate sweetness and surpisingly heavy bitter with dryish and long finish. Nice touch of salty accent. Moderate body yet creamy texture with lively carbonation. A hint of alcohol at the end.

Bottle. Pours pitch black with a brown head. The aroma contains notes of roasted malts, chocolate, liquorice, coffee and dark fruits. Moderate to heavy sweetness, light bitterness and a slightly bitter finish. Full-bodied, creamy and very soft carbonation. The best imperial stout currently made in Finland.
