UPDATED: AUG 13, 2010 As a graduate of UW-Stevens Point I was a frequent consumer of this fine beer for many years and have toured the brewery where it’s made close to a dozen times. This is quite simply a great Wisconsin made beer. Maybe its the Wisconsin river water its brewed with, maybe its the faint corn taste present with every sip, but this beer is something truly special. It has great flavor, nice and malty with just a hint of hops in the background. The only real downside to this beer is that a night of drinking Point leaves you with a doozy of a hangover. A good beer for those of you who like a strong taste. It is definately not a light beer and will definately fill you up. It is, by far, my favorite beer. firecop1 (2) - Hawk Run, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 6, 2007 does not count

This is one of the smoothest and creamiest beers available. As I recall, this was rated as the number one beer in American the 1970’s and there is a reason for it.
Little aftertaste, full flavored but yet mellow. This has been my favorite "sit on the porch in the summer" beer for four decades. sra99 (1) - franklin, Kentucky, USA - MAY 6, 2002 does not count
As a Wisconsinite and graduate of the Univ of Wis - Stevens Point I had years to enjoy this fabulous brew. Now living in Ky I am now fortunate to have found a store that carries this love of my life. I just wish I could get it for the same price as in Point. Not only is this a wonderful beer to drink for any occassion but also great to boil brats & onions to ready them for the grill. I find this to be one of the best American Standard Lager Beers around. every opertunity I have to share this beer with others I find new converts to Point. This beer may not be for those that prefer 'quality beers such as Bud'(joke) This beer has to much flavor for there deserning pallets.

This is my personal favorite. Definitely recommend a tour of the brewery, too. An excellent brewery that is the fifth oldest in the country. vilevile86 (1) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - DEC 31, 2012 does not count
Light enough for smooth drinking but enough bite to know your drinking a decent American lager. Straight forward beerlovinman99 (124) - USA - JUL 9, 2002
Point Special is a great example of an American German beer -- brewed a little heavier and more flavorful for the German immigrants in Wisconsin. JosephKewl (5) - USA - NOV 26, 2005 does not count
A medium lager with a highly carbonated crispy character. The head is medium and retains well. Excellent aroma, grainy and slightly fruity flavor, good flavor, but one needs to acquire the taste to fully appreciate. Especially good on tap in frosty mugs rjgrant4199 (3) - USA - NOV 29, 2001 does not count
