2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottles from Capone’s. Pours clear deep copper toward ruby with 1-finger splotchy off-white head. Nose is caramel malt, strawberry/band-aid, hops. Heavy nose. Tastes of caramel malt, pretty light on the palate and not very complex, with pretty big hops, some fruit, definite strawberry, cherry, some vanilla, and a finish that gets hot late.
Aroma and flavor is dark fruit/raisins, caramel, malts and a warming alcohol finish. superspak (5874) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - FEB 4, 2017
12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 11/12/2014. Pours hazy deep reddish brown/light copper color with a 1-2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, plum, fig, date, apricot, apple, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, molasses, toasted biscuit, brown bread, nuttiness, light chocolate/cocoa, tobacco, herbal, light pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and light-moderate earthy hops notes; with great strength. Taste of big raisin, plum, fig, date, apricot, apple, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, molasses, toasted biscuit, brown bread, nuttiness, light chocolate/cocoa, tobacco, herbal, light pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy hop and roast bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark fruits, apricot, apple, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, molasses, toasted biscuit, brown bread, nuttiness, cocoa, tobacco, herbal, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and light-moderate earthy hops flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light dryness from hop/roast bitterness, lightly increasing through the glass. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, fairly sticky, and lightly chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden, a mild warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a great English barleywine. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, fruity yeast, and light-moderate earthy hops flavors; very smooth and easy to sip on for the ABV. This was fairly roasty for my style expectations; but the balance between yeast, malt, and hop character was spot on for the style; with great overall complexity. Still a good amount of hop presence after 2+ years as well. A very enjoyable offering. hayduke (5618) - Eureka, California, USA - APR 18, 2016
Sent to me by Sfrykzone in a trade. Thanks, Dave. Pours dark amber with a tan head. Nose of ripe fruit including raisins. Medium plus body. Flavor is rich and shows some of the dark ripe fruit and some citrus. The finish shows alcohol Very nice.

12 oz bottle served in a goblet.
Pours clear, dark red-brown with lovely highlights. The bone-colored head is decent in size but reduces quickly; at least this allows the fine but relatively mild aroma to shine. The flavor is also on the mild side for style; the positive side of this is that the ale is mellow and easy sipping for something over 10% ABV.
Mouthfeel: very smooth, medium-full body with light carbonation.

Bottle. Deep amber brown and opaque. A one finger tan head is fizzy at first and then falls slowly. Smells like a barley wine with rich dark fruit. Raisins. Big malts that are toasty. This has those flavors along with some floral notes. An alcohol burn. Complex fruit has some citrus along with the darker varieties. Caramel.

Pours a dark garnet with a full light tan head. Aroma is dark fruit and tobacco. Taste is caramel malt, molasses, dark fruit, chewing tobacco and a bit of alcohol. beeratarian (237) - cleveland, Ohio, USA - FEB 28, 2015
Pours a medium brown with thin off white head. Aroma of toasted bread, some cherry and molasses. Flavor is smooth with some brown sugar, nice maltiness finishes with some dried cherry. Probably would age well. Alcohol is well hidden and easy to drink at 10%. Not too shabby at all for the price. jandd1983 (4544) - Wentzville, Missouri, USA - FEB 7, 2015
It poured a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma was of caramel, some alcohol and a touch of dark fruit. The taste was roasty with dark fruits and more caramel. kkleu357 (634) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 10, 2015
Poured a bottle into a tulip glass. Dark brown slight red hue. Poured heavy and got a small 1/2 inch head. Big Sweet plum aroma. Heavy flavorful beer. Sweet plum taste. Picking up hints of peat and tobacco. It’s pretty good. DrinkinWell (389) - - DEC 30, 2014
Pours a reddish brown. Nutty, oak on the nose. Slightly creamy mouthfeel. Caramel and vanilla, sweet malts and sugar, slightly bitter aftertaste. Not a typical barleywine. Subtler flavors, not as much alcohol. Very good though.
