Bottle, 6%. Mildly fruity aroma. Hazy yellow colour. Small stable white head. The flavour is fruity and watery. Has a little citric hint, slightly unclean but not too bad. yespr (46788) - Copenhagen O, DENMARK - DEC 22, 2015
33 cl bottle. Pours cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma is fruity, light phenolic. Estery, fruity, mild toasted malt. Medium dry and slight fruity finish. kraddel (8616) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - NOV 11, 2015
Pours clear blonde, small, fast fading white head. Smell is overripe fruits, very... weird. Not really pumpkin, yet something truly herbal. thik, bit sweet, some malts...
Taste is sharp, mostly malts and some bitterness ( more yeasty than hoppy ) the pumkpin is not as in your face as feared. Should be seen as a belgian blonde, mild bitterness, with aspects of pumpkin, that completely cancel the aftertaste. If you KNOW there’s pumpkin in this, you can actually taste it. But it is so unintense, no-one will taste this blindly , in my opinion. Overall, I think the pumkpin is blended in well ( i feared a sweet, chemical pumpkin-juice beer ) , but the herbal character is rather negative than it is positive to me... Little cloudy orange beer, small irregular off-white head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: fruity, orange peel, malty. MF: ok carbon, medium to light body. Taste: bit sweet, malty, some caramel, sourish touch, pretty bitter. Aftertaste: spicy touch, bit sugary, watery, yeasty touch, sweet, bit boring but correctly brewed. Wouldn’t expect anything less from De Proef. ;-)
Alengrin (5554) - BELGIUM - JUL 26, 2015
UPDATED: JUL 27, 2015 Apparent pumpkin beer, but with actual pumpkin instead of the usual pumpkin pie spices as in American style pumpkin ale. Creamy, loosely structured, yellowish white head over a misty peach blonde beer. Aroma of indeed pumpkin flesh but in a ’zucchini’ kind of way, lime zest, starfruit, green apple, dough, lemon peel, white bread; softly sourish flavour, cucumber more than actual pumpkin but I guess it could be described as courgette-like as well; thin mouthfeel, bit simple texture, lightly bready, bit minerally, finishing with continuing vegetable sourishness along with a very, very light grassy hop bitterishness somewhere far away. Weird and clearly not an American style pumpkin ale at all, but I could still enjoy it more or less.
