COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hommel is the local abbreviation of humulus, from the botanical name for the hop plant. Confusingly, it also means bumble bee in Flemish. Poperings Hommelbier is a hoppy, golden-bronze, ale. It is made from a blend of winter, summer and aromatic pale malts.

250 ml bottle from Tanakaya. Clean fruity ester nose. Floral and herbal notes as well. Sweet on the palate, with some honey and grain. Average carbonation and medium body. FInish is dry with a little peppery hop character. Simple, but well-done little Belgian ale.

Medium bold smell that is diverse and hard to place...appearance has lots of floaters which is interesting...front end is a little sweet but then morphs into drier yeast taste...light bitterness...some diversity but not a lot

Aroma is citrus, clove, straw and yeast. Taste is light sweet malts with a fairly well balanced hop profile that has light earthiness and funk about it. Smooth for the abv. Appearance is a hazy gold with a medium bubbly and frothy head that retains quite well.

750ml bottle. Bier Huis, Ossett. Hazy orange. Thin, lasting, white head. Nose has sweet, lightly spicy malts. Hops come over spicy, too. Big on the Belgian yeast. Taste is upfront sweet. Gets a little spicy. More sweetness on the finish. Ok. A bit one dimensional.

Pours from the bottle hazy dark gold with a big fluffy white head that reminded me of a Duvel pour. Aroma is yeasty, sweet, with a hint of spice. Taste is dry, a bit bitter, with a long multilayered finish at which the depth of taste in this beer really becomes apparent. Honey, green apple, bubble gum, and a strong yeasty bread undertone are all present. Overlying it all is a gently candy sweetness that is all the more interesting given the lack of sugar as an ingredient. Medium bodied, well carbonated, and the alcohol is completely hidden. Really very good stuff!
