I’ll give this an overall of 15 because it nails the style to a tee and compared to real Mexican lagers, this is far more quaffable. You would almost swear you can taste beans in it. And by saying that I don’t really mean that you can taste beans, but more or less it captures the exact flavor of drinking a Mexican lager and eating some quality Mexican grinds. I can’t rate this low on it’s style since, for it’s style, it shines above the rest. This is usually one of my "slow down" beer’s at Hamilton’s, when I’ve made the decision that I am actually going to sober out and drive home instead of calling a cab and wondering how I’m going to fetch my car the next day. alexanderj (3605) - Branson, Missouri, USA - MAY 8, 2007

I had this on draft a few times, usually at Pizza Port San Clemente. They tell me that it’s a favorite of the local military, as a substitute for BMC...
it’s yellow, not much aroma, the flavor is benign. designed & implemented as an ice cold quench thirster.

Thin white head is quickly diminished, leaving only a few patches of lace behind. Rather light, golden-blonde color with some slightly darker maize-like notes and a high clarity.
Not much going on in the nose….Bit of corn-like notes, though not really the offensive type. Light vanillin and dry, grainy malts that are quite bare and not very fresh/crisp smelling. Some nutty, minimally noticeable hops and a finish very devoid of yeast crispness. Mineral water-like notes and grain aromas mostly, and pretty weak at that. Didn’t get any DMS in the nose.
Before even mentioning the flavor, the body and carbonation were way off. Extremely loose carbonation leads to a very thin/watery mouthfeel. And it seems like there just isnt enough malt in the beer either, as much of the flavor is water. After that, some dry, bready, nearly astringent cracker-like notes, slight corn/borderline DMS notes and a bit of waxiness/paperiness. Even the malt flavor that was present was pretty bland, stale and washed out. Not sure what to make of this one. I could understand if it was left on too long at a beer bar, but served right at Port Brewing in this condition? Strange.

Not a big fan. Draft at Hamilton’s. Not much aroma. Orignially told the barkeep "no fruit" half way through, I asked for the lime cuz there was now way I was gonna finish the brew without it. Not very good.
