Bottle from Capone’s. Whoa, let me tell ya bout the nose on this, Bob Griese! Tons of aromatic hops sear the olfactory membranes, along with copious tropical fruit, including tangerine, honeydew, pineapple, and mango. The pour is hazy deep golden with 1-finger whitish head. The flavor is very hoppy, in fact, this is one of the highest IBU beers I have yet quaffed, with a ton of resiny syrupy hops matched with tropical fruit and caramel malt. There’s no way the malt can keep up with the hops. It also gets a tad hot at the end, but that is a minor beef. Yet another top notch IIPA from these guys. ukoolaid (580) - Amherst, Massachusetts, USA - NOV 13, 2007
UPDATED: NOV 14, 2007 Bottle. Pours a hazy deep golden with creamy off-white head. Aroma and taste is sweet grassy citrus (grapefruit and something tropical) hops with a very nice hop bite in the finish. Very clean and ’fresh’. Excellent. egajdzis (6499) - Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 13, 2007
Poured a hazy orange amber color with a small, white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of pine, floral hops, citrus fruits, and pineapple. Taste of light toffee, citrus fruits, some metal, yeast, grapefruit, and a dry, bitter finish. Nice, but the Founders Harvest I had last night was better. Bomber. Clear amber with a medium head. Aroma of pine and grapefruit; very sharp. West-coast balanced, big citrus hops with just a little sugary sweetness. Controlled bitterness. Reminded me of a watered down Hopslam. yemenmocha (659) - Glendale, Arizona, USA - NOV 11, 2007
Pours pale yellow, hazy, with very generous white head.
On the nose is a citrus monster, dominated by lemon especially.
Palate is sharp hops, acidity, with sweet ’n sour in between. Leaves a tangy quality on the palate at the finish.
Worth trying but doesn’t justify the higher price over the regular Port Brewing IPA.

I scored a growler of this at the Angel’s Share release 11/10/07. Pours out a light orange color with a thin white head over top. Upon cracking the seal of this beer you get overwhelmed with citrus smells, even before helping yourself to a glass. As I was saying, aroma is the biggest smack of grapefruit and pine resin you can think of, a beautiful and inviting smell. This stuff tastes so clean of hops. Wow, obviously grapefruit domninates but if you take a second to explore..... pine sap followed by a hint of sugar and vanilla. This is one hell, of and IPA. Fairly modest alcohol makes it very drinkable for anyone who loves hops, and don’t let me fool you this one is all about the hops. toncatcher (228) - Santee - SAN DIEGO, California, USA - NOV 10, 2007
Pours a golden yellow with a sight off-white head. Aroma of citrus, grapefruit, pine, and lemon. Tastes of a well balanced ipa some bitter hops and a little malt to balance. hellbilly (3249) - scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA - NOV 10, 2007
pours a very unattractive yellowy brown with a thin white head and some yeasty cloudiness. aroma is caramel, malty iced tea, sweet citrus juice, pineapple and grapefruit hops.fresh ’green’ flavor is everything in the aroma without the sweetness. citrus skin hop bitterness and black pepper with some lingering pine. it’s balanced....but definitely leaning hard on the hops. medium to full bodied, nice and dry with a prickly mouth feel. finally, an IPA that isn’t sweet and doesn’t hurt my teeth HopHeadinAZ (180) - Arizona, USA - NOV 5, 2007
22oz Bottle: Pours a slightly hazy gold with a small white head. The aroma is intense with with pine and lemon. The taste is resinous and pine dominated with some lemon on the finish. The bitterness is noticeable. The mouth feel is good overall but it has a prickly finish. The beer is very good and the freshness, green character of the hops. nightrider (754) - encinitas, California, USA - NOV 4, 2007
Poured from a killer bomber with a sick label of a big san diego wave. Nice bountiful white head with a cloudy orange golden hue. Smooth and bitter on the palate. Sweet and citrusy aromas on top of flavors of bitter hops and touches of sweet malt. Perfect finish and leaves you wanting more. Close to perfect for an IPA in my book!!!
