22 oz bottle, via FlacoAlto. Pours a dark brown body, very much like molasses in it’s appearance, with a small brown head that retained as a thin covering. Really great nose of coffee, dry roasted malt, and some hoppiness. Nice clean flavor with a roast and coffee all over the place, some black strap molasses. I love the dark malts with the smoothness and cleanliness of a lager. Moderate bitterness from both the roasted malt and some gentle hopping on the finish. This is really tasty, and a style that I wish more brewers would attempt. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and fairly crisp with perfect soft fizzy carbonation. This is a beer that I would drink a lot of in the summer/fall if I had access to it easily. There is an incredible amount of flavor to this for just a 5% ABV beer. Impregnable black body with a chocolate cream head. Mischaracterized as a Scwarzbier, in my opinion--or at least it stretches the style to dazzlingly delicious new heights. Robust roast barley aroma with sweet chocolate tendrils, and coffee grains in the periphery. Roasty, well-rounded flavors, with sharpness, coffee, chocolate and then a deep pitch of barley and charcoal smoke through the finish. Pretty amazing stuff. philbertk (1873) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 30, 2010

Deep black pour with a thick creamy tan head. Very sticky and inviting. The nose is quite creamy and chocolatey with a touch of soft malted milk character as well. Chewy sweetness along with a touch of almost smoky cocoaish flavour. Soft and earthy with a touch of light lingering cocoa. Clean and quite fresh tasting… this is a damn fine schwarzbier. Bottle from Liquor Max. Pours black with an inch of khaki foam. Nice malt on the nose. Big malt on the tongue with a nice thin mouthfeel. Finishes clean. Fantastic example of style. dhunter151 (590) - Santa Rosa, California, USA - FEB 13, 2013
Pours jet black with a thick brown head. Smells of roasted malt and coffee. The coffee flavor and bitterness lingers for a little bit. Pretty good.

Ahh... Lager. There is just something so relaxing about lager, isn’t there? nuplastikk (6277) - Madison, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 18, 2013
Pours a very thin looking black and forms a light brown head which doesn’t last all that long. Aromas of roast and some cocoa. Taste is just pure relaxation... Subtle, supple, succulent. Light roast. So good. So very, very good.
Tap at Oasis Micropub. Opaque brown-black body, thin steady beige head. Smooth chocolate aroma. Soft, medium body. Chocolate, brown nutty roast malt, mild coffee, smoke. Spot on, very drinkable. Smooth brown chocolate toffee finish. Excellent, sublime, perfect.
