COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
It’s not often that a great summer swell coincides with a full moon, but when they collide, nature affords us a rare opportunity to paddle out long after everyone has called it a day. These moments are a solitary pursuit with empty lineups, but those who carve graceful lines under a full moon understand how things can be dark lonely and rewarding at the same time. So next time you paddle in from an overcrowded beach break, remember that nothing tastes better than a cold beer after a session. We suggest a glass of this smooth roasty black lager for contemplating empty lineups and waves that go on for days. Most likely, you’ll long for epic summer swells under moon lit sessions opening the doors to isolation and empty secret spots of an age trying to pass us by.
Note: Formerly Midnight Sessions Lager.

Roasted malts bordering on burnt; not a lot of discernible hop flavor or aroma, but also not the complex malt qualities I hoped for or expected. I would like to try this beer again when I can be more certain of the freshness.

Big coffee aroma, thin body. Very smooth drinking some vanilla. Slight bitter on the finish.

Crisp and refreshing, very strong roasted malt flavor. Not hoppy nor very aromatic, dark porter color. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft at Monks. Poured near black with a big dark tan head. Tastes like dark roasted coffee. Some sweet malt notes but the burned coffee flavors dominate. Bit creamy when cold but ends up way too thin. Smooth dry finish.

Medium brown head. Opaque black body. Roasty milky licorice aroma with burnt earthy notes. Dry-sweet dusty earthy taste with citric burnt notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dry metallic earthy burnt aftertaste with pine needle and flour notes. Nice, bold, drinkable. (0.65l bottle at Olympen, Oslo.)

Bottle shared by esp0r at our (ok probably not so) wild and insane #1000 milestone afterparty. Dark brown body with a low beige head. Looks kind of flat but luckily it aint. Aroma of bread, caramel, lightly roasted. Taste is also quite malty, joined by yeast and flowery hops. Thin body compared to other Port Brewings, but after all it’s a lager at 5% so that’s probably not so strange. Nice roasty-hoppy finish.

On tap 4 oz. pour at the Lost Abbey tasting room in San Marcos, CA. (Should this really be "Midnight Expression Lager?) Opaque dark mahogany with small khaki head and good lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, nuts, coffee, caramel, chocolate and toast. Taste of roasted malt, nuts, floral hops, caramel, chocolate and toast. Light/medium body and medium/low carbonation. The thin body detracts from the enjoyment of this beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Uploading old ratings that were missing comments. Not a lager fan and this wont change my mind. Good for a lager I guess but still dull. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Malty aroma with roast and nuts. Flavor is sweet and smoky, with a bittersweet finish. Pretty standard stuff but pretty good.
