3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber pours golden with thick off white head, good retention with sticky lacing. Nose of pine, citrus, and hop resin. Bitterness cuts the palate as malt washes over. Finish is lingering with citrus hop presence. Body is solid, ample carbonation moves this forward.
Tap at Toranado, 22nd November 17. Pours light and clear, aroma is fruit and citrus peel. Taste is bitter pith, clean, pine, drinks way below the ABV. Very good. maekchu (4054) - Hirakata, JAPAN - NOV 2, 2017
Bottle from Asahiya. Malty nose, with some citrus, then fairly strong pine, tropical fruit, and citrus again. Hazy light copper color with a thick off-white head and some sticky lace. Grapefruit, sweet caramel, pine, and citrusy hops. Heavy body, with some mid-oalate hop burn. Pretty thick and full featured, but w/o extreme bitterness. Tasty, but after several sips it starts to lose its initial appeal. Quick3Beers (1424) - East Falmouth, Massachusetts, USA - NOV 1, 2017
Pours a nice amber from a can. I'm picking up some tropical fruit notes, pine, soap and cilantro. For 8.5% it's rather thin, kind of refreshing at first that there's no sweet malt backbone pillowing the whole thing up, but then you realize it's there for a reason. Too soapy bitter for my taste. Okay beer. dojken (659) - SWEDEN - NOV 1, 2017
Fat på Chapter. Massor av tuttifrutti så det bara blåser till i näsan. Torkad frukt med persika o en god relativ kraftig beska. sgp31 (2) - - OCT 28, 2017 does not count

Can from Craftissimo, drank at home. Pours a hazy copper-orange with a white head. Smells of passionfruit, lime, apple juice, toffee and orange malt, lightly spicy but smooth, musky hop. Taste is mango, lightly spiced orange malt, stony hop that's a bit metallic and musty, stone fruit pits and pear. Body is slightly sweet with gentle fizziness, wet, smooth bitter finish. Very good! Pretty restrained for a double IPA, plenty of fruit, balanced by malt, smooth. superspak (6015) - Waterford, Michigan, USA - OCT 7, 2017
22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 11/26/2017. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy deep golden amber color with a 1-2 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, passion fruit, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, pine, honey, bread dough, biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, passion fruit, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, pine, honey, bread dough, biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus rind, grassy, spicy bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, passion fruit, lemon/orange rind, pepper, pine, honey, bread dough, biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and minimal lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderate increasing dryness from bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, and sticky/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 8.5%. Overall this is a fantastic DIPA! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink, despite the aggressively bitter/resinous/drying finish. Very bright and dank Columbus, Centennial, Cascade, and Simcoe hops; with a solid bready malt backbone, and no residual sweetness. A highly enjoyable offering, and spot on West coast style example. Medium body and flavor density, balanced mouthfeel, average length and heat.
Bitter, crisp, dry.
Hoppy but not characterful in that way.
Very disappointing considering the ratings.
