UPDATED: AUG 11, 2010 Bottle at home ... deep black ... medium tan head ...rich sweet meaty malt nose with a little whiskey ... big bourbon front... too much bourbon ... it domintaes way to much and distroys its balance... behind the bourbon is a decent rich roast malt. 3.7

Bottle at 4:20. Brown, clearish pour with a slight, tan head. Heavy sweet, malty aroma, soy sauce, cocoa, dark fruits. Flavor isn’t as sweet as I had expected, but still sweet, dark malts, some cocoa, caramel, burnt sugar. Full bodied with soft carbonation. Warm, almost hot finish, dark fruits, dry chocolate, some peat and hoisin. Great beer.

Black color, flat, no head. Phenolic aroma, chemicals, roasted malts, chocolate, light apples. Strong body, oily mouthfeel, very salty; there is liquorice flavor in the front, then sweet caramel, and some chocolate; alcoholic. Drinkable, but too salty and flat.

Vanilliger Antrunk, weich, harmlos. Deutlich Bourbon, mild erdig, weiter Vanille. Ebenfalls nur gering röstig, zum Ende alkoholisch. Ein merkwürdig mildes Bier. 8/11/10/9/9/10

harrisoni (18578) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - MAR 4, 2011
Bottle thanks to Steptin at ACBF ’11. Black colour no head. Lots of vanilla burnt toffee oak all on aroma. No balance at all. No real beer aroma. Quite smooth in mouth. Too oaky burn and vanilla. Just too much. Coulnt finish my glass. Not enough original beer comes through. Too much barrel agsd flavour.

375mL bottle, pours dark brown / black with a medium beige head. Aroma of rich bourbon, oak, vanilla, dark cocoa, peat and alcohol. Flavour reveals the dark cocoa, bourbon and oak upfront, with a smoky/peaty and alcoholic finish. Exceptionally well-crafted.

Oakes (17684) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 24, 2008
Murky dark brown. Lots of alcohol, raisin, rich malt, vanilla, wood, bourbon. Serious beer. Rich, smooth and sweet, with lots of vanilla. Light bourbon with a big alcohol finish.
