This marvelous creation is like the perfect bourbon barrel aged Imperial Stout/Rochefort 10-like hybrid...huge in every aspect, and absolutely savory, with a lot of bourbony esters, and yet never overwhelmingly bourbony, maintaining a beautiful balance of roastiness, dark fruits, tobacco, and bitter chocolate all the way to the voluptuous finish. WOW! Barley69 (26) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAY 10, 2008

UPDATED: FEB 19, 2017 At small bar on Fullerton. This is really great stuff. You can really taste and smell the oak and bourbon. Slightly sour and some dried fruit flavors. Wine like in a way. Serving: Tap Labove (427) - Rome, ITALY - JUL 21, 2011
UPDATED: DEC 10, 2012 Scura, intenso aroma di fruttato, alcol devastante e una bella dose di luppolo. Birra della madonna, complessa e unica nel suo genere. ktingleff (169) - - OCT 27, 2012
One of the best beers i ever had. Coconut, cream, chocolate, cocio, vanilla, bourbon. Soft, smooth and light mouth feel. Extremely well made beer.

Blurs the line between a Strong Ale and a Stout. Definite bourbon flavor from the aging. Yet smooth and balanced for 12%Abv. Not boozy at all. Just plan good. Sip and savor!! Expensive and worth it. Simply a great beer to experience and enjoy.

Pours black with small head nutty malty aroma. Nice strong bourbon flavor with chocolate liqueur aftertaste. Great beer.

Bottle, couldn’t find the bottling date. Poured to a snifter.
Aroma: vanilla, chocolate, some raisins, soy sauce.
Appearance: pours jet black. Cloudy, with minimal unstable head.
Taste: a lot is going on out here! Heavy sweetness, medium bitterness. Dark chocolate with vanilla infused. A chocolate-vanilla liqeur. Impressive!
Very full bodied. Thick, sticky. Flat carbonation, however seems not to be so (because of the high voltage of alcohol). Very long finish, just like after drinking a liqeur.
This is one of the best things I’ve drunk in my life.

Bottle from JohnC. Pour was pitch black-brown, even a little choco colored thin head on the top that fizzled quickly but left behind a nice ring, regenerable with a swirl, active carbonation in the mouthfeel later. The aroma was oaky wood, chocolate, maple, bourbon. The flavor was all of that, some molasses and licorice under there, just a wonderful BA brew, the best one I’ve had in a while, beer was actually there. Mouthfeel had a nice tingle from the carbonation and alcohol, yet this thing was a beer. Man, that finish was outstanding, perfect highlight to the whole experience. Great stuff, and thanks to John for this one! Top 50, no doubt.
