COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a classic West Coast-style imperial red ale brewed with medium crystal malts, centennial and cascade hops. The color is a burnt amber with red highlights and the aroma has a spicy hop presence with moderate caramel malt accents. The taste is a smooth, malty one with a balanced hoppy finish that includes hints of sweet caramel

Appearance: Red appearance, lingering head, great look to this beer. Smell: Quite floral in the hop character. Taste: Different from the nose, the taste of the hops struck me as perfume-y and bitter. I did not dig the heavy bitter lack of balance. Mouthfeel: Pretty heavy body. Drinkability: For every red beer fan like myself, I’m sure there’s someone who loves this. But for me, Shark Attack is just so, so. (Perfume-ey hops don’t anything for me)

Bottle thanks to and shared with the Mrs at home - pours dark amber with a beige head. Sweet and slight toasted biscuit malty with notes of caramel and toffee, some melted fudge, some marmalade fruity shred, nice hoppy backing, pine needles, warming sweet malty into the close.

On tap at First Draft Taproom & Kitchen. Reddish amber appearance with a lingering tan head. Mild aroma of pine, resinous hops, caramel malt, toffee and toasted grain. Similar flavor, adding moderate hop bitterness and a mild grainy sweetness. Medium body with a slight dry feel. Slightly disappointing overall.

Nose is malt and molasses. Crystallized brown sugar flavors. Fully bodied. Another solid offering from Port.

Poured from a 22 oz bottle into a glass it shows a clear reddish-orange with a thick beige head that leaves moderate lacing. Aroma is strong caramel, ripe fruit and a bit of pine in the background. The smooth malty taste quickly gives way to a pronounced bitter that carries all the way through a long finish with hints of alcohol rising to the surface. Soft carbonation, medium body, and almost creamy on the palate.

Pours an amber with moderate head. Smells of crisp bread and citrusy hops. Taste is bitter and sweet well balanced.

GG, Seattle. Thin creamy head, lacing some. Very dark red-orange-brown pour. Complex body and aroma. Bitter grain, dense fruit, amber malts. Cranberry tart alcohol presence, thick creamy body. Cool smooth presence overall, nicely astringent alcohol to complete the body. A bit of an oddity for me.. somewhat a dipa mixed with an amber. Not bad.

Brown hazy with rich beige creamy head. Slightly sweet malty aroma. Sweet bread taste followed by medium bitterness with some sourness. Bit spicy.

Shared bomber from the local Windy City rep, poured to snifters showing a hazed, deep amber hue, with a frothy layer of off white head foam, and wavy ribbons & spots of lacing. The nose was malty, with light spice, some citrus & stone fruit, but esters that projected more of a dried fruit scent. Better than medium bodied, prompted by decent liveliness to the carbonation, the taste was similar notes, bittered by lingering citrusy, earthy, and rind-like qualities of the "C" hops. Thanks Paul!

Aged 3+ years. did not know what to expect and don’t remember last time I had it fresh. so... it pours ruby brown (reddish) with a thick frothy head with good retention. clarity is on the cloudy side. as expected there’s some off flavors of oxidation, band-aid and green apples but its not overwhelming. bready sweet malts and earthy hops still come through. it had medium/full body with decent carbonation. texture is on oily side. strong astringency that hits the palate to almost harsh levels. taste of heavy sweet malts, earthy hops and alcohol with some off soy-saucey thing going on. major components (semi-harsh astringency, bitterness and alcohol warmth) last long after swallowing. - wish I had a fresh for comparison.
