COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Summer Pale Ale is our version of the iconic West Coast-style Pale Ale. Our brewers decided this beer should be all about the hops. Therefore, we brew it without any crystal malt. In choosing to brew a beer this way, we are left to focus solely on the expressive nature of the hops they choose for this beer.

Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured an orange-amber color with a medium sized creamy orange-white head that left excellent lacing. The aroma was faint with tangy pine notes. The flavor was dry, bitter and piney with a tangy middle that sweetens a bit. Medium length finish with lingering bitterness. Medium body. Meh.

Grapefruit and pine set in a neutral malt base. This one really blurs the distinction between and IPA and an APA. Id call this an IPA based on the assertive hop profile. Regardless its decent.

On tap at the brewery. Tropical fruits, mango and passion fruit. Taste is tropical fruits again, moderate bitterness. A good modern light APA, just a hint too much cat piss though.

Bomber. Tropical fruit hop aroma with notes of grapefruit citrus, floral hop and some piney hop notes. Pours hazy golden colored with a large, soapy white head with excellent retention and not much lacing. Starts with sweet tropical fruit flavors with some floral hops. Finishes very dry with grapefruit citrus flavor and acidity with a sharp bite of piney hop bitterness at the very end that lingers on the palate. Good, but tips the scales more toward IPA than a pale.

Bomber from Binnys in Highland Park. Orangey copper pour with a bit of an off-white head. Aroma has lemons, oranges, pine and tangy stone fruits. Taste is of hoppy citrus, tangy pine, some sweetness. Finishes more bitter than sweet, but nicely mixed. A solid offering. 14.1

bomber from Capitol Beer is Sacramento, CA. Pours translucent gold with a white head. Aroma is very much hop - going for citrus, pine and tropical fruits IMHO. Med + body. Flavor starts somewhat dank, moves on to citrus and fruits. Im not sure a little more malt support would be a bad thing here, but clearly the hops are in charge. Hop burn from teeth through gullet. Yea!
