Like everything else from Port City, their Downright Pilsner is super-fresh and completely down-to-earth. One of the qualities I like best about this brewery is that they don’t fuss around with fancy flavors and hipster tweaks on the basic four-ingredient beer bible. Instead, they make super-high-quality, fresh, delicious beer that everybody can enjoy -- without the cutesy trickery that so many other brewers fool around with. Pours a slightly hazy gold, topped with an inch of firm white foam. Aromas of fresh bread, lemograss and hay abound - very promising start. Taste is classic pilsner malt, grainy, lightly toasty, with a solid hop bite to give perfect pilsner balance. Wonderful drinkability, and definitely a class rendition of the style. ordybill (1815) - Douglasville, Georgia, USA - MAR 1, 2015
Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass.
Aroma- Has a nice presence of malt, grass, caramel and citrus.
Appearance- This beer is a murky golden yellow color with a small white head.
Taste- Has a great toasted malt flavor with a bready aftertaste.
Palate- A medium bodied beer with low carbonation, has a creamy to oily texture.
Overall- A nice pilsner, that is well balanced.

At NHC 2016 banquet. One of the best pils in America. Saaz and pils malt aroma. Flavor is a bit oxidized but otherwise spot on. gripweed57 (2863) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - NOV 10, 2017
12 ounce bottle. Brassy bright gold with a firm ocky white head and clinging lace. Grainy nose. Crisp, bitter hos balanced by a light biscuit malt backbone. Spicy Saaz hop finish makes this a step above most American pilsners.

On tap at Open City, DC. Aroma of hay, cracker, light noble hops. Appearance is royal gold with a sticky, 1/3 inch white head, spot-on carbonation. Flavor matches the nose; crackery dry, light/moderate noble hops and a dry, slightly fruity finish. Palate is medium, bubbly and very soft. Very well done. craftbeerdesign (2254) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUL 6, 2012
Taster at Port City. Golden pour with a nice white head. Light Saaz hop aroma. Med body with light citrus bitterness, faint banana and light grass. Fairly full bodied for the style. Sweet finish with bright orange notes. OnTheTrail (583) - Virginia, USA - MAY 22, 2015
from non existent notes - had at the taproom, after a bike ride on a warm day, it was tasty and refreshing. The tall pilsener glass was not ideal for smelling the aroma. brownaler (706) - Alexandria, Virginia, USA - SEP 11, 2015
From draft at Lucky Bar. Clean and crisp finish with light, sweet vanilla notes.
