COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The beer is a deep golden color and medium bodied, with a soft round malt profile and crisp and spicy hop character on the finish. This lager is brewed in the traditional Pilsner style, using authentic Pilsner malt and noble Saaz hops.

Downright Pilsner gets its carbonation completely naturally as it lagers in our fermentation tanks for six weeks. A unique twist on this beer is the dry hop addition of Saaz hops. This additional infusion of hops gives the beer an extra refreshing bite on the finish.

2 month old bottle into a tulip. A: Tawny mostly clear gold pour with a small tight frothy head. A few big slow bubbles rising. Decent retention and spotty lace. S: Lightly toasted white bread/dough smell. Faint spicy floral hops. T: Very bready but with a nice strong hop kick providing bitter bite and resin without overwhelming the malt. Bold flavors (for a pils) in very nice balance. M: Lively carbonation. Refreshing and drinkable but not too light. Dry resinous finish. O: Very good pilsner that I will buy again when I can find it.

Tap at the brewery - well-executed, hoppy, Czech-style Pils - clean, bready malt, leads to a dry, crisp finish - floral and grassy hops swell to a bitter, but not abrasive finish - lacks nuance, but a straightforward take without flaws, which is more than a lot of American Brewers can pull off.

Tap. Pours clear pale golden with a medium creamy white head and good lacing. Aroma is light, Noble Hops, hints of grass, biscuit. Flavors is light sweet, light bitter, biscuit malts, Noble Hops, perhaps a bit below style on bitterness but really pleasant. Light body, pillowy mouthfeel.

Total Wine, Fairfax 355ml ($1.80): Pours a golden colour with a white head. Aroma is grass, grain, German hops, and straw. Taste is moderately bitter, but not that intense. Sweetness is minimal, if at all present. Body is excellent. I suppose that the freshness of this beer gives it an extra point or two, but this was a very nice crisp, bitter pils. I think Port City is really getting its act together and is putting out some very well-made sessions.

Body is medium with a strong, fizzy carbonation. Dry finish. Ends with more sweet malt, spicy hops, grassy notes, floral hops, biscuit and bread dough.

14 oz pour on draft at the District Drafts stand (Section 130), Nationals Park in DC. Cardinals vs. Nationals. Served in a clear plastic cup. Slightly hazy golden yellow with off-white head. Aromas of citrus, wheat, herbs, stone fruit. Tastes of citrus fruit and peel, malt, wheat, some bitter floral. Medium-light body with a dry finish. Nice enough for a ballgame on a hot summer day.

Pours clear golden with a frothy and thick but not long-lasting eggshell head. Crisp aroma presents fruity and fresh malt notes, typical but inviting. Flavor delivers crisp malt, pear, hoppy and subtle apple tones - a little bitter for a pils, and I like it! Mouthfeel offers firm, smooth body and good fizz. I’m not a big pilsner fan, but I downright like this one.

Sampled from bottle @ ChrisO’s after GBBF Day 1. Clear pale golden color, small white head. Smell and taste some malts, moderately bitter, hayish and lightly grainy. Decent body and carbonation. Quite decent I’d say.
