Essential Pale Ale is a deep golden color with hop aroma reminiscent of fresh fruit. The pleasing bitter taste from American hops is balanced with English and German malts, and offers a complex full flavored character that is smooth and refreshing.

Poured from a bottle. Clear golden with white head. Floral hop aroma along with some caramel malt. Taste is moderately sweet with a fair amount of bitterness from the hops. Definitely on the hoppy side for an APA. Medium body. Overall, decent pale ale.

5 week old bottle into a stemless wine glass. A: Pale orange tinted clear gold with small fast falling head and nice lacing. S: Very light scent of bread and orange zest with a touch of pine. T: Crisp toasted bread malts dominate with zesty orange and pith balancing nicely. Light sweetness lingers. M: Crisp carbonation and light to medium mouthfeel with a very clean finish. O: Well done in all aspects even if not exceptional in any. A really nice pale ale worth buying.

Bready malt and strong hop profile. Wish they made more pale ales than IPAs.

UPDATED: APR 15, 2016 Nothing really noticable about this one...a bit of citrus and hops, but nothing strong. Kinda danky and just finishes without a note.

Pours and orange color with a lacy white head. Notes of sweat, grass, orange citrus, and some skunkiness. Nothing really stands out.

Newport News, VA - Total Wine - 12 oz bottle. Slight haze to the medium golden pour, nice bubble action, soft snow white head with a nice film of lacing. Aroma has some slight spearmint accents, a touch of white grape fruitiness. Flavor is solid, standard pale ale, refreshing with some grainy notes, a hint of pear-like fruitiness, just a slight bitter citrusy back end. Mouthfeel has a nice fullness to it.

Sampled at GABF 2015 in Denver. In the tasting glass was a rich gold with nice white foam. Nose of floral hops. Medium in body. Flavor is rich clean malts with a good does of floral hops. Bitter finish. Quite nice. A pint of this would be welcome.
