Gravity at GBBF 2014. Poured black, with a dense beige head. Aroma of stem ginger, biscuits and coffee. Tart, earthy flavours, with lots of candied peal. Finish was sharp bitterness, some burnt malt and gingerbread. Benzai (16681) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - AUG 19, 2014
Sampled @ GBBF day 3. Very dark brown to black color, virtually no head. Smell and taste malts, a lot of herbs or spices, lightly roast, lots of spices. Medium body and carbonation. Not my thing at all. evergreen0199 (3492) - Northwood, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 17, 2014
Cask at Great British Beer Festival 2014, Olympia, London. A black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate aroma. Tastes similar, slightly roasty, malty, chocolate, slight bitterness. mR_fr0g (13475) - Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - AUG 14, 2014
Cask gravity at the 2014 GBBF. With ginger and orange peel. Nose is big candied ginger preserve, spicy and fresh bit not much else. Opaque dark brown coloured pour wiry a halo of cream head head. Flavour is big ginger, spicy orange tang and dark choc, ginger dominates the flavour. Palate is medium full with highish carbonation. Too much ginger. Cask - Ginger - Ginger and a bit of spice. Jet black with no head. Ginger and roasted malts, light chocolate with a bit of ginger on the finish. Although I find the ginger harsh on the nose, it works ok in the flavor.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a small foamy dark tan head that faded quickly and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was dark fruits, toasty malts and hints of wood and marshmallow. The flavor was dryish, roasty and bitter with notes of chocolate, vanilla, marshmallow, fruity hops and a hint of port wine. Medium length finish. Medium body. Solid. yiannnos (1254) - , CYPRUS - AUG 1, 2014

Bottle. Pours a black color with slight beige head. Malty, roasty, slight coffee aromas. Roasty, toffee, coffee flavors. Pretty nice porter. hopscotch (11236) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JUN 30, 2014
Bottle... Unclear, deeply brown ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. The olfactory standouts here are toasted pistachios, toasted almonds and melted milk chocolate. Medium-bodied with laid-back carbonation. The flavor is very roasty and chocolaty. It’s bittersweet, but more bitter than sweet. Roasty, dark-chocolaty finish that dries out a touch. On tap at Finnegan’s Wake during trivia night. Black pour with minimal fizzy eggshell head. Aroma is dark cocoa and acidic coffee. Flavor is cocoa heavy, mild red fruit presence, wet coffee ground earthiness. Creamy, moderately slick body. Solid and enjoyable.
