3.5/5 appearance.. lifeless black, decent head and lacing. Aroma 7.5/10, nice chocolate, sweetness, coffee.. slightly artificial. Taste 7/10, more bitter and less sweet than I expected, some coffee.. not as much character I expected. Smooth, bitter. Not bad.

Bottle from The Brew House in Arlington. This is a highly roasted porter, some might say too much so. A bit of cigarette ash in there. It is dry. The bottle lists both OG and FG (in Plato) and Im coming with around 80% attenuation. Fairly decent IBU count but not hop flavor. Chocolate. You cant complain that theres not much flavor, its really a question as to whether you like the ash. I do.

Tap at the brewery - just a downright great rendition of a classic, and now overlooked style - complex chocolate, cherry, and espresso, with a moderate bitterness and roast to keep it from getting too sweet - if this were Ratebeer circa 2003, this beer would be in high demand.

Bottle. I got this in a sampler pack for Christmas, so I wasnt really sure what to expect, but I ended up really liking this. Barely translucent black pour with a tan head. Roasty aroma and flavor, with some chocolate notes in the finish. Easy drinking for a porter. Good cold-weather brew.

Sample at SBWF 2016. Almost black with a tan head. Fairly mild with roasted malt, dark chocolate and coffee. The body was medium and the finish rather bitter. An ok one.
