Large mocha colored head with good lacing over a dusky body. Aroma of roasted malts, molassas and bitter chocolate with a mild metallic off-note. Modestly hopped, lactose-like sweetness with hints of dark fruit. Medium bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel leadiing to a long lasting finish.

Tap at the brewery - just a downright great rendition of a classic, and now overlooked style - complex chocolate, cherry, and espresso, with a moderate bitterness and roast to keep it from getting too sweet - if this were Ratebeer circa 2003, this beer would be in high demand.

Bottle. I got this in a sampler pack for Christmas, so I wasnt really sure what to expect, but I ended up really liking this. Barely translucent black pour with a tan head. Roasty aroma and flavor, with some chocolate notes in the finish. Easy drinking for a porter. Good cold-weather brew.
