COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Port City Revival Stout is a limited edition beer that we made with oysters from War Horse Oyster Company. Crafted by Head Brewer Jonathan Reeves, this beer is brewed in the British and Irish tradition of oyster stouts.

We steep War Shore’s Chesapeake Bay oyster shells in the brewing water to add mineral content and then add the oysters and their liquor to the brew during the boil. The oysters add a subtle whiff of a sea breeze, a slight briny character and a smooth textural element to the beer.

Fairly dry on the nose, lots of cereal and lots of chocolate. The salt of the brine gives a nice complement to the chocolate malts, almost like a little salted caramel. The finished beer is complex and appeals to the palate. Very smooth, very lush, plenty of heft, nice alcohol.

On draught at Alphabet City Beer Co. The beer is a brown-black color with a medium foamy tan head that diminishes steadily to a film. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of malt, coffee and dark chocolate. Light-bodied with a slightly briny character and notes of bittersweet chocolate, malt and coffee. The finish is roasty malt and salted chocolate. Pretty good overall.

This is the first oyster stout I had while actually eating oysters thanks to some event I stumbled into by accident at Glen’s Garden Market. Free food is awesome. This one has nice roast and a good dose of oyster saltiness. Pours black with good head and lacing. Bitter and lightly salty finish. Light oyster notes. These guys make good dark beers. Tap.
