Poured a nice dark brown with minimal head and lacing. A nice aroma of roasted malt sweetness. Taste is predominated by roasted malts with a slight coffee/chocolate hint. Finish has a slight sour hop bitterness. Mouth is good. Overall, a fairly decent porter.

Flight sample poured a dark ruby brown with a small head and nice lacing. Aromas of roasted malt, dark chocolate, toffee and caramel. Creamy mild bitter finish. On the lighter side of porter, but very drinkable.

Draft. Sugary toffee malt and hay aroma. Chestnut brown with moderate head. Sweet creamy toffee malt and mildly bitter herb/ash flavor. Decent body. Solid.

There was little aroma. Pours a medium dark brown, but not as dark as most porters. There wasn’t much flavor except for a bitter finish. It wasn’t smooth like most porters. There was some coffee notes while drinking this beer. It did have a nice long lasting white head.

Bottle from Zinke’s in the Dells. Has a dark brown pour with a tan head leaving some small spots of lace. Aroma has molasses, caramel and some bakers chocolate. Taste is of sweet caramel, some roast, bakers chocolate and faint molasses & cocoa beans. Much more sweet than bitter but with both present, and a bit rough. Medium to full bodied. Finishes slightly to the sweet side of that bitter - sweet scale. More bitterness in the finish than the middle. A nice solid local porter. 14.3

Clear chestnut with a thin creamy brown crown. Aroma of toffee, sugar, dough and light chocolate and coffee. Taste is rather grainy with toasted malt, mild chocolate and a very grainy finish.

Pours dark brown/black with a creamy light brown head. Very creamy on the palate, the aroma is coffee and molasses. Taste is full bodied with dark roasted malt, coffee and chicory flavors apparent. A slight touch of hops gives a dry and not overly sweet finish. A very good porter that pairs well with pulled pork and cole slaw.

12oz bottle. Brown-black not quite opaque body, hints of stained glass red corners. Thin, oily beige head. Smooth, thin medium body. Roast, chocolate, mild coffee. Really one-dimensional, lacks depth. The flavor is pretty nice though, no awkward tones of off flavors. Plain and simple, a little too standard for a beer just released in 2012.

UPDATED: OCT 5, 2012 On draught at the Showboat Saloon in downtown Wisconsin Dells. Pours an opaque cola brown colored brew with a thin creamy beige head that slowly dissipates and leaves behind some excellent lacing. Aroma of toasted dark malt, a hint of chocolate, some light floral hops and a touch of toffee. Taste is medium bodied, flavors of toasted dark malts, some mild bread crust faint touch of Bakers chocolate. Finish is medium. Not too dry or sweet. right smack in the middle with a slight chocolate and Munich malt finish. Definitely a solid porter so bring on the Swiss/bacon cheeseburger.
