COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Summer’s final ferry has departed from Port Jefferson Harbor, and colder weather is imminent. A suitable remedy for winter’s inevitable arrival? Starboard Oatmeal Stout. A luscious, velvet-smooth pour of sweet chocolate, roast, and comforting warmth, Starboard Oatmeal Stout is brewed with flaked oats, brown sugar, and raisins. Breakfast in a glass, basically. Dessert, too. Every meal, actually, and the perfect companion for contemplation near any serene winter landscape. Especially a shoreline.

Deep rich nose, roasted and toasted mainly, with a bit of sweetness and some anise. Dark with minimal dark tan head. Light body. Booze hidden. Decent.

Pours black with lots of tan head. Sour aroma and a sour taste upfront to match. Oatmeal mouthfeel at the end. Too sour for my taste. Bottle.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Naama’s place. Thanks Naama. Black with a light brown head. Aroma of roast, some coffee and chocolate. Sweetish and slightly acidic roasty flavor, with coffee and some cocoa. Medium-bodied.

Poured from 22 oz. bottle. [Port Jeff's website lists the ABV at 5.4%, but the bottle says 9.2%. The former is clearly an error.] Opaque, brown-black with a 3-finger tan head and very good lacing. Aroma of molasses, toffee, raisins and chocolate. Taste of chocolate, roasted malt, toffee, slightly tart dark fruit, molasses and earthiness. Somewhat sweet with lots of roastiness and some nice dark fruit yet no strong roasted coffee flavors. Full body and medium carbonation with a substantial mouthfeel. A great imperial stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

22oz bottle pours a viscous black with some beige head. Nose has a lot of raisin, lots of molasses, malt, some black pepper, some umami. Flavor has some dried cherry, soured coffee, lightly sweet, a little dark bread, some turbinado sugar. Lightly sour finish. Something is off.

Bottle at Craig’s. Pours dark brown with a little tan head. Aromas of oats and roasted nuts, not getting any coffee. Taste has a sour note and some choclate sweetness. Finishes short. OK.

Coffee nose. Not that much coffee on the palate, i got a toffee/chocolate sweetness at the back end. A bit earthy and dirty and that’s not a bad thing.
