Tasted on 5/6/13 from a 22oz can purchased for one dollar at Kroger here in Nashville. Pours clear pale bronze with an average white head that slowly recedes to average lace. The nose is almost completely non-existent, just the faintest hint of corny malt and a lightly metallic aroma. The flavor is pretty much the same, there is the same corny malt from the nose, with a bit of an added nutty note, but there really isn’t much going on here. The body is light with fizzy carbonation and no finish to speak of.
Good light malt smell, pale golden appearance clear and crisp, taste is like a generic beer...a tad malty and very light hops, smooth and crisp but nothing of note alexsdad06 (10262) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 2, 2015
24 oz. can from my local Kroger. Pours a clear golden color with a medium sized white head. The aroma and flavor have grainy and corn malts, a hint of citrus, surprisingly not skunky, just not too much going on. Drjohnrock (761) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - FEB 7, 2015
Poured from 24 ounce can bought at Western Hills Kroger, tasted on September 5, 2014. Light yellow hue with good clarity, light adjunct/non-hop bitter aroma, light flavor that starts out smooth and ends up bitter. OK for what it is. edgallow (4146) - nashville, Tennessee, USA - OCT 5, 2014
24 oz can pours golden with a white head. Aroma plans taste is malts, grain and light hops. ronaldtheriot (1918) - Laplace, Louisiana, USA - AUG 9, 2014
Port Republic Lager Beer has a thick, white head, a clear, bubbly straw appearance, and some slight lacing left behind on the glass. The aroma is of sweet, grainy, stereotypical lager, and the flavor is the same, with a shade of hop bitterness to round it out. Mouthfeel is light and watery, with an unfortunate faint chalky under-taste. Port Republic Lager Beer finishes crisp and refreshing. RJT

Can thanks to DrSilverworm. Drank from the can. Smells very corny and grainy. Can’t see it too well, looks gold-ish. Taste is grainy and husky just light the light version, but just a touch sweeter. Total dumpster juice. I really hope this is cheap because I don’t know why anyone would drink this otherwise mikesaum (711) - Newark, Ohio, USA - JAN 12, 2014
From the can, smells kinda corny and fruity, not horrible. Taste is smooth, not much flavor, just easy drinking pale lager. maniac (3800) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - JAN 1, 2014
Can from Kroger on 06/22/2011. Clear pale golden body with a medium fizzy white head. Sweet corn and honey aroma. Sweet grainy corn and honey flavor. Medium body with moderately high carbonation.

Pours yellow with a white head. Nose is sweet malts, grainy, wheaty, sweet corn like aroma. Flavor is sweet corny malts, light grassy flavors. Medium sweet and finish is medium sweet with moderate bitterness. Not special. DrSilverworm (9671) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - DEC 30, 2013
24oz can, from a Kroger somewhere in Cincinnati (not my local one). Shared with some friends. I figured this was a malt liquor, at the price point, but it turned out to be much higher quality than expected. Totally clear golden color. Thin kind of bubbly white head. Couple bits of lace. Light to medium body. Very dry texture. Head fades to minimal. Moderate sweet taste, light to moderate bitter. Actually way better than expected. All friends I shared this with agreed. Lighter, kind of smooth carbonation, and just a light roughness. Gets significantly better and easier to drink as I go (perfect). Bready, light lemony citrus quality to the aroma. Just a light bite in the finish. A solid, super-cheap lager. It beats budweiser. I should have known better than to judge a kroger brand so harshly..
