Beautiful amber color with copper hue, small creamy head. Moderate malt and caramel aroma, light fudge. Good malt flavor, some caramel, quite sweet but not syrupy; strong bitterness with nice hop resins and light fruitiness. Bold Barley Wine. The final is expectedly long and powerful.
Straightforward American Barley Wine, very good.
Bomber. Appearance is a cloudy brownish amber color with a thin cap of foam. The aroma is dominated by caramelized sugar sweetness, dark fruits and malt. As expected, the flavor is heavy on the brown sugar, toffee and caramel along with notes of black cherry, dates, raisins and rum. Body is moderately thick and creamy with soft carbonation and a malty, alcohol warming finish. Well done English style Barley Wine. madvike (3293) - Middleton, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 26, 2012
Bottle from brewolf...thanks Michael! - Pours amber with a thin light tan head. Grassy, herbal hops on the nose...subtle and subdued. Caramel malt on the nose with a bit of sharpness--oak or booze? Taste brings out the grassy hops more, real subdued, bready malt base--not sweet or syrupy, more dry bread. Hops are present all the way through the finish. Thinner than I would have thought, with pretty nice carbonation. HogTownHarry (7064) - Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, CANADA - JAN 12, 2012
2011-01-29 - shared by jerc & mabel with me and blankboy. 22oz bottle. Fairly clear deep amber with lots of bubbles and very small creamy/frothy off-white head. Roast caramel malt, alcohol, some tart ripe fruit (? apple?) and a decent amount of dry resin bitterness. Taste like a somewhat fruity American barleywine, but thin, not as boozy or, sadly, as hoppy - not bad, but a little on the light side. Light body, average carbonation, and a fairly quick finish with increasing booziness but unfortunately the expected hoppy finish never showed up. Still quite pleasant. reebtogi (6350) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 20, 2011
650ml bottle pours an orangeish brown color with about 2 fingers of white head that leaves a few spots of lacing behind. Aroma is grainy with some fruit and alcohol. Taste is grainy malt sweetness with a bit of fruit and a lingering hoppy bitter finish. A really nice barley wine that I thoroughly enjoyed tasting.

Bottle [22oz] shared with HogTownHarry, jerc & mabel -- c/o j&m. Pours a hazy amber with an average size diminishing frothy off-white head. Aroma is malty along with some alcohol, hops and dark fruit. Flavour’s also malty, a bit sweet, along with some light herbal hops, dark fruit and molasses. Medium bodied. Pretty good. mabel (9245) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 6, 2011
[3583-20110129] 650mL bottle. Sugary toasted malt aroma has a little leafy toffee. Slightly hazy, brown amber body with a quick foamy tan head. Sweet toffee caramelized earth flavour has a long sweet toasted malt aftertaste. Medium-full body. Interesting to try, borderline bitterness is good. (7/3/7/3/16-) 3.6

2011-01-29. Hazy orange amber body with a modest beige head. 3+ Aroma starts alcoholic, modest hops, toasty/caramel accents. 6+ Flavour is fairly bitter, moderate hop character is a bit muddled at times. Modest caramel notes in the malty base. Smooth average plus palate. 3+ Okay, doesn’t quite all come together for me but still enjoyable. 22 oz bottle. Deep clear brown with a garnet tint. Nose is caramel, grass and cherry. Medium body with zesty carb. Taste is caramel, apple, grapefruit and pine. Nice balance with the hops providing a brash finish.
