Thanks to Suttree for this one. A rusty red pour. Excellent aroma of dried fruits and hops. A fruity cherry flavor that fades to a date flavor. Carbonation is good but the palate is just a tad thin. A smooth full bodied BW. thanks Phil Rastacouere (6177) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 13, 2005
Almost absent head covers the dark mahogany hue. The nose announces a serious beginning of oxidation right off through its madeira flavors. Straightforward burnt toast, chocolate and caramel offerings feels a bit like déjà vu. All about the malt. The close to roasty, calcinated crust flavours continue on the tongue for a long time, in the end dominating the sweet aspects. Coppery, slightly astringent finish is very dry, but not quite bitter, definitely not from the hops anyway. thirdeye11 (6160) - Dallas, Texas, USA - MAR 8, 2010
(22oz bottle thanks to bu11zeye) Pours medium brown with a ring of bubbles. Nose of honey, caramel, and sweet bread. Taste of toasted caramel, alcohol, raisins, rum, with a good oily slick finish, and a medium bitterness. Creamy too. Nice! Emil (6065) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - APR 27, 2006
Bottle. Dark red colour with a big beige head. Malty, dark fruits aroma and taste, sweet. Medium to full body with a light alcoholic finish. JohnnyJ (5562) - San Diego, California, USA - FEB 6, 2015
On draft at the brewery. Somewhat murky dark orange pour, with a thin off white head. Sweet sugary, caramel, rotting fruit, and harsh bitterness. No thanks.

Tawny ruby color, oily slick head with some retentive rings of lacing like a rescue crew. Nose of sweet plums, malt, fig, licorice, alcohol. Super tasty smell. Tastes roasty and chocolatey with strong alcohol notes and finish. Complex, a bit balanced and very anticipated. I like! Strong alcohol in the finish and overall palate. mar (5415) - Dallas, Texas, USA - MAR 6, 2010

Medium orange color. Small to medium white foamy head. Aroma is raisins, bananas and sweet malts. A medium to full bodied barley wine. Malts are fruity and sweet. Tons of banana, clove, brown sugar and vanilla flavors. Hops are grapefruity and spicy. A well-balanced barley wine. Very smooth. Finish is very clean. Very mellow as it has aged well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. Thanks to Dr. Bill for sharing this one as well. BrewDad (5328) - Olympia, Washington, USA - MAR 6, 2009

Aroma: Strong Oak aroma with caramel, and hops in the nose.
Appearance: Amber in color, clear with a thin head.
Flavor: A good amount of malts and hops this was a very nice oak aged barley wine.
Palate: Sweet with a dry oaky finish.
Overall: One of the best I have had in a long time this was brewed very nice.
(22oz bottle) Purchased at Bottlewerkz, Seattle. I seemingly didn’t mind this beer as much as everyone else? It was very velvety in texture and had a nice brown sugar and spice flavour. Good.
