COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
At 10.5% alcohol by volume, barley wine style ale is in a class all its own. Intense caramelized flavors create sweetness which is balanced by huge additions of Galena hops. Cascade aromatic hops are added at the end of the boil to compliment this strongest of ales.

Drank from a bottle at the 20th Mondial de la Bire, June 1, 2013. Dark amber, no head. Light aroma of barley sugar, hints of herbs. Herbs dry taste and a little spicy, a little malted barley, dry bitterness. Strong but not the intensity of its style!

8/15/2011: Port Townsend Barleywine... Malty and rich; a bit underattenuated, but I prefer barleywine that way.

bottle at mondial de la bire, mtl. pours hazy light brown-reddish with a minimal light beige head. cherries (!), nice caramel and toffee, even more butterscotch, booze, grassy, earthy. average carbonation, medium body - oily. medium complexity but most definitely what you would expect from a bw. good balance.

Bire brumeuse teinte de cuivre. Le nez est sucr et typiquement vin dorge, disons-le. En bouche, le brunch sucr nous en met plein les papilles. Jaurais aim adorer, mais a manque un peu de subtilit.
