COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Flavors of dark chocolate and roasted malts are complemented by generous quantities of Northwest hops to give this dry stout an assertive but balanced profile. A traditional yeast strain lends further complexity to this rich dark brew.

22 oz bottle shared. Black appearance with a tan head. Aroma of chocolate malt, coffee and roasted grain. Similar flavor, with a medium body, a smooth creamy feel and a dry, bittersweet finish. Pretty straight up stout overall. Solid.

Draft at PT Taproom. Ruby-tinged dark brown with pretty, clean-thick tan foam. Guinness character. Creamy roast aroma, a bit of alc bite and smooth creamy roast body. Cool cocoa, a little coffee roast. Delicious.

Draft at Central Cinema in July. Classic nitro pour: creamy dense khaki head that takes its time to settle. Smooth chocolate, sweetened with caramel. Gentle roast, creamy smooth texture. Overall: this is a pleasant surprise -- this is darned good. No idea if its changed over the years or if I just got lucky, but this was way better than the average would suggest.

On nitro at the brewery. Dark brown pour, with a light tan nitro head. Roasted malt, light chocolate, mild bitterness, and toast. Watery, not bad, but not interesting.

On tap at Port Townsend, pours a deep dark mahogany with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out notes of chocolate, cocoa nibs and a little roast. Flavour is very light for a 6.6% stout, with notes of roast and cocoa. Smooth and creamy on the palate. Very drinkable but not overly thrilling. Decent stout.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown color with a slightly thick light brown head on there. Nose is roasty with just a hint of chocolate and sour in there. Taste is a tad sweet and quite roasty, and not as dry as i would have guessed. OK.

Black pour. Big tan head. Plenty of lacing. Smells of licorice and malt. Taste is...unexpected. Very sour. Im guessing it wasnt intentional as it tastes like Madrugada Obscura - a sour stout. After that there is notes of coffee, but I really cant get past how sour this is. Not intentional at all, but not bad. Sadly it isnt supposed to be a sour stout at all.

(Draught at The Beer Junction) black, on nitro, creamy tan head. Nose of raisin, rich chocolate, dark fruit, cream, brown sugar, cola, very complex. Taste of raisin, milk chocolate, cream, honey, rum, and brown sugar. Really flavorful for 6.6% ABV (what was listed when I drank it). Awesome dry stout, maybe the best Ive had.
