Flavors of dark chocolate and roasted malts are complemented by generous quantities of Northwest hops to give this dry stout an assertive but balanced profile. A traditional yeast strain lends further complexity to this rich dark brew.

On tap at Sirens in Port Townsend. Starts out pretty good. Malty aroma. Velvety body. Itís a little think and watery, but decent. But the flavor goes downhill as it goes on.

(Draught) Sampled at GCBF 2010 on September 11, 2010. Nutty and lactic. Milky coffee and ash flavour. Good.

Served on tap at the brewery. The appearance is a deep flat brown black. The nose is medium with roasted grains, brown rice, and hints of coffee. The flavors are also medium in intensity. A nice malty, brown rice flavor, some bakers chocolate. Medium bodied mouth. A well done everyday stout. Looking at other reviews this is much better on tap.

GCBF 2010. Cloudy walnut brown. Minerally roast aroma, earthy chocolate, hard roast bitterness. Solid.

skortila (5820) - Baarn, NETHERLANDS - AUG 9, 2010
West USA trip 2010. Bottled. The aroma has dark choclates, roast. Black coloured beer with an off-white, thin head. The taste is sweet, has chocolate bitterness. Clean palate. Light-medium bodied. But a bit too sweet imo.

2010-06-29. Very dark brown body, creamy tan head and lace. 4+ Flavour has a modest roast, sweet mild malt middle has muted toast and caramel/sweet accents, modest dry roast bitterness in the finish. 7+ Aroma has modest roast over muted coffee and mocha notes, mild malt core. 6+ Very smooth average palate is pleasant but less chewy than my preference. 3+ Very pleasant drinkable stout is a bit tame. On tap at the brewery, Port Townsend

[3036-20100629] Tap. Little toasted roast malt aroma has a hint of red wine. Murky, dark brown body with a long-lasting creamy mocha head and thick lacing. Rich mid-tone roast malt flavour has a hint of coffee and sweetness throughout. Full body is smooth. Easy drink, could even have handled more roast but nice as it is.

Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours black with a 4 finger tan head. Nice burnt/toast malt aroma. Maybe some hop bitter? Full bodied with very foamy carbonation. Smooth. Flavor is very dark chocolate with burnt malt for bitter. Hop? Maybe. Itís just very, very flavorful. Finish is towards dry with chocolate notes. Delicious.
